VIB offers international fellowships to integrative biology postdocs who have advanced skills in  omics technologies.

The omics@VIB postdoc program offers a highly stimulating and multicultural environment. Embedded in excellent research groups, you will be working on breakthrough science, with access to cutting-edge technologies, three year secured funding and personal career assistance.

We expect you to propose your own integrative biology project, focusing on the use or the introduction of ‘omics’ (bioinformatics, metagenomics, genomics, proteomics...) in the research topic of your choice.

Nationality

VIB International Postdoc program “OMICS@vib” is open to applicants from all nationalities. Applicants should not have been carrying out research in Belgium for more than 12 months during the last 3 years before the deadline of the program on 15/09/2013.

Postdocs selected for this program should be able to start their postdoc project before 1/6/2014.

University degree

Applicants must hold a PhD degree before the start of the fellowship, but not necessarily when applying.

 

Publication record

Applicants must have a proven record of research accomplishments and at least one original first author publication (including joint authorship), either published in or accepted by an international peer-reviewed journal with high recognition in the field.

Experience

Candidates should not have more than 5 years of postdoc experience at the moment of the deadline, 15 September 2013. 

 

Career Break

One additional year will be taken into account for every childbirth or any other officially stated career break reason (caring for sick children or parents, additional studies…)

 

Language

English is used in all VIB laboratories for spoken and written scientific communication. Candidates must deliver proof of a solid English knowledge. Adding TOEFL test results in your cv is recommended.

MTCP Scholarship for International Students, Malaysia

The MTCP Scholarship for Post-Graduate Studies provides opportunities for students to pursue advanced academic study in Malaysia. This scholarship is a Government-to-Government basis, without any bond imposed by Malaysia. Scholarships are intended for promising candidates who may be expected to make a significant contribution to their own countries on their return from Malaysia. The duration of the award is 36 months for PhD and between 12 to 24 months for Masters Programme.

 

ELIGIBLITY CRITERIA

To be eligible for MALAYSIAN TECHNICAL COOPERATION PROGRAMME (MTCP), applicants must fit the following criteria:-

1. Not be more than 45 years of age during application.
2. Obtained a minimum of Second Class Upper (Honours) or a CGPA of 3.5/4.0 at Bachelor Degree Level for Masters Degree applicants and for PhD candidates must possess CGPA 3.5/4.0 or very good result at Masters degree level in a similar field of intended PhD study. In addition, for post-doctoral programme, the selection will be evaluated based on the number of books produced, refereed/non refereed journals, portfolio and patent copyright. The Post-Doctoral candidate must have excellent reputation in research and possesses knowledge related to the research to be carried out.
3. Took one of the following English Language Proficiency Test not more than two years before the date of application. The list of tests and minimum scores required:
   1. IELTS Academic Test with a score of at least 6.5; or
   2. TOEFL paper-based test with a score of at least 580 or computer-based test with a score of at least 230 or internet-based test with a score at least 92.
4. In excellent health condition and certified by a Certified Doctor/Medical Professional. The cost of medical examination is to be borne by the applicants
5. Wrote a proposal that is relevant to the needs and interests of Malaysia (research-based programme only)
6. Has applied for and gained admission to postgraduate and post-doctoral studies in Malaysia (conditional letters of offer will be accepted at the time of application or has a confirmation of acceptance or affiliation with the universities in Malaysia).

3. Scholarship holders must follow the approved programmes and abide by the university’s rules, regulations and codes of conduct.
4. Any suspension from the university will result in immediate suspension of award. Monthly allowances are not payable during suspension, including suspension due to illness.
5. It is the responsibility of successful candidates to apply for and meet the requirements for the issuing of an appropriate entry visa including medical examination. The offer of the scholarship does not guarantee the granting of a visa.
6. Scholarship holders must maintain satisfactory progress and good standing as stipulated by their host university and degree programme, or the scholarship will be withdrawn.
7. The scholarships are tenable in Malaysian universities and research must be carried out in Malaysia.

  International postdoctoral researchers (m/f) (at most two years after having received their doctorate) are encouraged to apply for a two-year BREMEN TRAC – incoming COFUND Fellowship to develop and implement an independent research project. Applicants (m/f) can be of any nationality but at the time of application, they must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Germany for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the call deadline.

All fellows (m/f) can freely choose their research topic, but have to demonstrate that their project fruitfully connects with one of the University’s research areas. Malaysian International Scholarship (MIS) for Postgraduate and Postdoctoral Students

The Malaysia International Scholarship (MIS) is an initiative by the Malaysian Government to attract the best brain from around the world to pursue advanced academic studies in Malaysia. This scholarship aims to support Malaysian Government's effort to attract, motivate and retain talented human capital from abroad.

Swiss Government Scholarship Program

The Swiss Government through the Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS) grants limited number of scholarships to Indonesian postgraduates. There are three types of scholarships offered for Indonesia:

• Research scholarships
• PhD scholarships
• Postdoctoral scholarships

Beasiswa Post-Doktoral Khusus Wanita

Schlumberger Foundation menawarkan beasiswa untuk gelar PhD atau post-doktoral pada tahun ajaran 2013-1014. Beasiswa ini ditujukan khusus bagi wanita di negara berkembang.

Seperti dikutip pada situs www.facultyforthefuture.net, Selasa (18/9/2012), beasiswa ini untuk Ilmu Fisika, Ilmu Teknik dan Teknologi di universitas tekemuka di luar negeri.

Yayasan tersebut memberikan beasiswa dengan tujuan agar akses bagi wanita dalam dunia karier semakin terbuka. Mahasiswa jebolan program beasiswa yayasan tersebut, kemudian tergabung dalam sebuah komunitas yang terdiri dari 257 ilmuan wanita dari 62 negara.

Persyarat agar bisa mendapatkan beasiswa ini antara lain, perempuan dari negara berkembang, sedang tidak mendapat fasilitas beasiswa dari lembaga manapun, memiliki catatan akademik yang baik, mau memberikan kontribusi kepada negara asal untuk mengaplikasikan ilmu yang didapat.

Beasiswa Islamic Development Bank (IDB): Beasiswa dengan Tunjangan Hidup Keluarga

Untuk rekan-rekan yang ingin melanjutkan studi ke luar negeri, tetapi sering terkendala dengan masalah tidak bisa mengajak serta keluarga karena dana beasiswa yang terbatas, beasiswa dari Islamic Development Bank ini bisa menjadi alternatif untuk bisa studi lanjut keluar negeri . Islamic Development Bank (IDB)  adalah sebuah organisasi ekonomi yang berpusat di Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. IDB memberikan program beasiswa ini kepada negara-negara anggota dan muslim community di negara-negara non-anggota IDB sebagai bentuk dukungan terhadap pembangunan sumber daya manusia di negara-negara tersebut.

Ada 3 tipe beasiswa yang ditawarkan oleh IDB, meliputi:

1. Scholarship Programme for Muslim Communities in Non-member Countries
2. M.Sc Scholarship Programme in Science and Technology for IDB Least Developed Member Countries
3. Merit Scholarship Programme for High Technology

Untuk pelamar dari Indonesia, hanya program no. 3 yang dapat diikuti untuk saat ini, yaitu Merit Scholarship Programme for High Technology. Program ini menawarkan beasiswa untuk mengikuti Program PhD (untuk 3 tahun) dan Post Doc (untuk 6-12 bulan).

Persyaratan dan Fasilitas dari beasiswa IDB

IDB menetapkan beberapa kriteria bagi seseorang untuk bisa melamar pada program Merit Scholarship Programme for High Technology, yaitu:

1. Berusia tidak lebih dari 35 tahun (untuk program PhD) dan 40 tahun (untuk program Post Doc)
2. Merupakan anggota institusi penelitian atau institusi akademik di negara asal. Untuk Indonesia, IDB lebih menyukai dosen atau peneliti di lembaga penelitian.
3. Memiliki pengalaman kerja dan penelitian di bidang yang relevan yaitu science dan technology minimal 2 tahun. Ini dibuktikan dengan menyertakan copy publikasi ilmiah atau penelitian yang relevan.
4. Mempunyai proposal riset yang baik dan jelas, terkait dengan pembangunan science dan technology di negara asal.
5. Mempunyai kemampuan bahasa yang memenuhi kriteria untuk menempuh pendidikan di negara tujuan.

Untuk kriteria bidang Science dan Technology dari IDB, biasanya akan berubah setiap tahunnya. Sehingga untuk memastikan bidang yang tercakup dalam beasiswa ini, sekiranya rekan-rekan bisa melihat ke website IDB scholarship. Tautan:

Akan lebih baik juga jika rekan-rekan sudah memilki offer letter (conditional atau unconditional) dari sebuah universitas. IDB lebih menyukai pelamar yang sudah memiliki offer letter dari universitas yang masuk dalam rangking 200 besar versi Times Higher Education (THES), sehingga sebelum melamar, hendaknya rekan-rekan bisa merujuk pada rangking universitas di THES. Jika belum memiliki offer letter, tidak ada salahnya juga tetap mencoba. IDB menetapkan kriteria penilaian tersendiri untuk menyeleksi calon penerima beasiswa IDB atau yang dikenal dengan IDB Scholars. Jika proposal riset yang kita susun baik dan jelas dan memenuhi kriteria IDB, proses mencari institusi tempat belajar bisa dilanjutkan setelah dinyatakan diterima sebagai IDB Scholars. IDB memberikan waktu selama 12 bulan sejak dinyatakan menerima beasiswa IDB, untuk mencari institusi tempat belajar. Jika tidak bisa memenuhi dalam jangka waktu 12 bulan, dengan berat hati IDB akan mencabut hak beasiswa ini.

Fasilitas yang diberikan oleh IDB untuk IDB scholars juga cukup baik, tidak kalah dengan beasiswa yang lain. Fasilitas ini meliputi:

1. Pembayaran tuition fee dan/atau research bench fee.
2. Tunjangan hidup, jumlahnya tergantung negara tujuan. Untuk UK, saat ini tunjangan hidup adalah £975 per bulan. Untuk yang membawa keluarga, ada tunjangan untuk spouse (suami/istri) sebesar £400 per bulan ditambah tunjangan hidup untuk anak sebesar 15% per anak (dicover hingga anak ke empat).
3. Tunjangan untuk buku dan pakaian, saat ini sebesar USD 100 per bulan.
4. Tunjangan pembelian computer, saat ini sebesar USD 1200
5. Tunjangan mengikuti konferensi, saat ini sebesar USD 1500, untuk digunakan selama masa studi.
6. Tunjangan untuk settlement saat pertama datang, besarnya 1 (satu) kali tunjangan hidup perbulan.
7. Tunjangan untuk thesis preparation, besarnya USD 250.
8. Tiket pulang dan pergi dari negara asal ke negara tujuan, digunakan saat berangkat dan pulang setelah selesai studi.
9. Asuransi kesehatan. Untuk UK, tidak diberikan karena asuransi kesehatan sudah dicover oleh NHS.

Dengan fasilitas ini, bagi rekan-rekan yang ingin studi lanjut ke luar negeri dengan tetap membawa serta keluarga, beasiswa IDB ini kiranya bisa memberikan alternatif untuk tetap melanjutkan pendidikan ke luar negeri.

Langkah-langkah mendaftar beasiswa IDB

Beasiswa IDB ini dibuka mulai bulan September setiap tahunnya. Untuk proses seleksi awal dilakukan di negara asal. Untuk Indonesia, seleksi dilakukan oleh pejabat yang berwenang di Departemen Keuangan.

Hungarian Scholarship for Foreign Students in Higher Education Institutions, Hungary

Scholarships can be applied for in two different ways:

1. Work plans and bilateral agreements The Office of the Hungarian Scholarship Board (hereinafter HSB) welcomes applications by citizens of countries (and territories) that have a valid/effective educational work plan with Hungary, or a bilateral agreement signed by the Hungarian Ministry of National Resources and the relevant ministry of the given country (or territory). Dissemination of all information regarding the application procedure and deadlines as well as assessment and shortlisting of applications is conducted by the scholarship authority or the Ministry of Education in the relevant home country (or territory). Applications forwarded by partner scholarship offices shall have a priority. However, applications submitted directly to the HSB Office shall also be accepted in the framework of the Pool system outlined below.
   
   
2. Scholarship Pool In 2005 the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Hungary established the ‘Scholarship Pool’ allowing for applications for all HSB scholarship types from the following countries/territories:
   Albania, Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Cyprus, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Korean Republic, Kuwait, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mexico, The Netherlands, Norway, Republic of Chile, Republic of the Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Romania, Singapore, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Syria, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States of America.
   

Citizens of the following countries may only apply through their national scholarship offices, on the basis of bilateral agreements:

Columbia, Yemen, Mongolia, Palestine and Vietnam.

Available scholarships

The following scholarships are available in the academic year 2012-2013:

A - semester/partial studies (3-10 months)

Available for: undergraduate (BA/BSc) and graduate (MA/MSc) students (enrolled at foreign higher education institutions), especially those majoring in Hungarian Language and Literature and students participating in a single degree track university programme (such as General Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmaceutical Studies, Veterinary Studies, Architecture, Studies in Law, etc.). Before application, students are required to have completed minimum two semesters at their home institutions. For ‘Type A’ scholarship students may apply only on one occasion during their Bachelor’s studies, and once during their Master’s studies.

B - postgraduate studies, research (3-21 days or 1-10 months)

Available for: applicants holding a Master’s degree or an equivalent university degree, including PhD students who intend to do research for their dissertation and wish to stay in Hungary for less than 10 months. (However, PhD students cannot earn credits during the scholarship period at the host university.)

C/1 - full PhD programme (36 months)

Only students proficient in Hungarian can apply. The scholarship is conditional upon successful entrance exam / admission to the respective doctoral school.

C/2 - partial PhD studies (10 months)

Applicants must be enrolled in a PhD programme at an accredited higher education institution in their home country or in a foreign country (but not in Hungary).

D - postdoctoral studies, research (1-10 months)

Applicants must hold a PhD or an equivalent degree.

E - research stay (3-21 days or 1-10 months)

Available for associate professors or high-ranking academics as well as researchers holding minimum a PhD or an equivalent degree.

F - summer courses in the summer of 2012 (2-4 weeks)

Only courses published in the list of ‘Summer Courses 2012’ on the HSB website can be selected. You may select three different courses but your scholarship will allow you to participate only in one course.

CASES OF NON-ELIGIBILITY

• Foreign citizens with a residence/immigration permit or in the course of applying for such a permit in Hungary
• Foreign citizens with permanent residence in Hungary
• Foreign citizens employed on a permanent basis as defined by the Hungarian Labour Law
• Students in employment applying for part-time or correspondence study programmes
• Students applying for programmes not financed by the Hungarian State
• Students admitted to higher education host institutions where tuition fee is required.

GENERAL PROVISIONS

Scholarships offered by the HSB allow for studies or research in any field of arts or sciences at an accredited Hungarian higher education institution or research institute to be determined in advance.

Semester/partial and postgraduate studies as well as doctoral programmes must be carried out in higher education institutions or research institutes where no tuition fee is required.

For ’type A scholarship’ students may apply only on one occasion in the course of their Bachelor’s studies, and once during their Master’s studies. Type A (semester/partial studies) and type C1/C2 (full PhD and partial PhD studies) scholarships cannot be extended. Type B (postgraduate studies), D (postdoctoral studies, research), and E (research stay) scholarships may be extended exceptionally, only under special circumstances, on one occasion.

HSB scholarships are valid only for studies and research purposes in Hungary. Scholarship-holders must stay in Hungary during the entire period of their studies or research.

Scholarships are awarded for the summer of 2012 or the academic year 2012-2013 and must be completed by 30 June 2013 at the latest.

A list of the national scholarship authorities (‘Foreign Partners’), the list of summer university courses as well as other useful information can be found on the HSB website (www.scholarship.hu). Scholarships are awarded by the Hungarian Minister of National Resources based on the decisions of the Hungarian Scholarship Board. The list of successful applicants for scholarship types A to E is expected to be published on the HSB website by the end of June 2012 and for the summer university courses by the beginning of June 2012. Applicants will be informed of the result in an official letter posted or sent via e-mail. The HSB office shall not accept appeals against the decision.

DAAD Short-Term Research Grants for Indonesian, Germany

DAAD Scholarships for Doctoral Programs and Post-docs Short-term Research in Germany for Academics and Scientists from Indonesian Universities and Research Institutes, Germany 2013-2014

These grants and scholarships aim to provide foreign academics and scientists working in higher education or at research institutes with an opportunity to carry out a research project at a state-recognized higher education institution or non-university research institute in Germany.

Duration: Depending on the applicant’s work schedule, the research stay will last between one and three months. The stay may begin in May/June 2013 at the earliest.

Eligibility:

• Applications for DAAD research stays are open to excellently-qualified academics and scientists who should generally hold a doctorate/PhD. All applicants must be working in higher education or at a research institute in Indonesia
• Besides their previous academic achievements (for example, recent publications), the most important selection criterion is a convincing and well-planned research project to be completed during the stay in Germany. This must have been coordinated and agreed with a research collaboration partner at the chosen host institute in Germany. Written confirmation of the research cooperation, including the reference to the applicant’s project, must be included with the application papers
• The application must provide proof of a workplace being provided at the host institute
• DAAD support for a research stay can only be awarded once in any three-year period
• Former fellows of the Alexander von Humboldt-Foundation are requested to contact the Humboldt-Foundation first.

How to Apply

 All applications must be submitted to DAAD Jakarta Office in duplicate. The original will be forwarded to the DAAD Head Office in Bonn. The final decision is taken by the DAAD. Applications cannot be sent directly to DAAD head office in Bonn. The DAAD will not consider incomplete applications.

Hungarian Scholarships for International Students 2012

Hungary through the Balassi Institute, the Hungarian Scholarship Board (HSB) Office offers scholarships for foreign students and lecturers in higher education institutions as well as research fellows who intend to gain further professional experience in Hungarian higher education institutions or research institutes. The HSB Office announces university and research scholarships for an academic year and summer school scholarships. Scholarships can be applied for in two different ways:  Work plans and bilateral agreements & Scholarship Pool. The following scholarships are available in the academic year 2012-2013:

Malaysia International Scholarship (MIS) 2012

The Malaysia International Scholarship (MIS) is an initiative by the Malaysian Government to attract the best brain from around the world to pursue advanced academic studies in Malaysia. This scholarship aims to support Malaysian Government's effort to attract, motivate and retain talented human capital from abroad. Talented international students with excellent academic records and outstanding co-curricular backgrounds are welcomed to apply for this scholarship and further their studies in any selected and well-established Malaysian public and private universities. This scholarship is divided into two categories of study: Postgraduate and Post-doctoral Studies.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet these following criteria:

• Not more than 45 years of age during application.
• Obtained a minimum of Second Class Upper (Honours)or a CGPA of 3.5/4.0 at Bachelor Degree Level for Masters Degree applicants and for PhD candidates must possess CGPA 3.5/4.0 or very good result at Masters degree level in a similar field of intended PhD study.  
• Prove of English Language Proficiency (not more than two years before the date of application) with minimum score required: IELTS Academic Test with a score of at least 6.5; or     - TOEFL paper-based test with a score of at least 580 or computer-based test with a score of at least 230or internet-based test with a score at least 92.  
• In excellent health condition and certified by a Certified Doctor/Medical Professional.
• Wrote a proposal that is relevant to the needs and interests of Malaysia (research-based programme only)  
• Has applied for and gained admission to postgraduate and post-doctoral studies in Malaysia (conditional letters of offer will be accepted at the time of application or has a confirmation of acceptance or affiliation with the universities in Malaysia).
