Scholarships by Sirindhorn Technology Scholarship Fund are available for excellent students from reputable universities of any foreign country to study in a master’s or a doctoral degree program at Sirindhorn

International Institute of Technology (SIIT), Thammasat University, Thailand. The scholarships are made

available for the following fields of study:

Number of Scholarships:    40 continuing Scholarships
For prospective students in the academic semester 1/2013 (June 2013)
-  Master’s degree (2-year curriculum)
-  Doctoral degree (3-year curriculum)
 

Scholarship Coverage:
1.  Full tuition and educational support fees (full thesis support)
2.  Living allowance of 10,000 Baht per month comprises:
a.  SIIT dormitory fee (2,000 Baht per month)*
b.  Personal living allowance of 8,000 Baht per month
3.  Round trip economy travel expenses, the most direct route to and from Thailand and the recipient’s home country (actual expense, but not over 20,000 Baht)
4.  Miscellaneous expenses such as visa fees, airport taxes, etc. (actual expenses, but not over 10,000 Baht)
5.  Health and accident insurance during the period of scholarship in Thailand

* Scholarship recipients are required to stay at the SIIT dormitory for a period of at least 12 months. During the aforementioned period, the dormitory monthly fee of 2,000 Baht will be deducted directly from the recipient’s living allowance.    

Candidate Qualifications:

• Not a Thai citizen, nor of Thai nationality
• Excellent academic record (preferably ranked within the top 20 percent of the class)
• Meet qualifications of SIIT graduate programs admission (http://www.siit.tu.ac.th/graduate_introduction_en.htm)
• Two strong recommendation letters (at least one recommendation letter must comes from academic instructor/advisor)
• Have good health and good conduct
• Must not be a recipient of another type of scholarship

Conditions to Continue the Scholarship:
1.  Maintain a cumulative GPA of not less than 3.00 with no “F”, “U”, or “W” grades
2.  Make good progress in his/her master thesis/doctoral dissertation and report his/her progress every semester
3.  Assist in the Institute’s work for 30 hours per semester, primarily focused on laboratory supervision or tutoring courses for at least 6 hours, and the rest will be examination proctoring duty.

PRE-SELECTION ANNOUNCEMENT FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS

(ACADEMIC YEAR 2012-2013)

Pre-selection is in progress for foreign students applying for a position in a PhD Program for the Academic Year 2012/13.

The number of positions funded by the University will be established by the Graduate School.

Foreign students wishing to apply for admission to a PhD Program for the Academic Year 2012/13 must submit an application no later than 2 May 2012 using the online form available at the following web address:

Foreign students will be evaluated by submitting an online application by 2 May 2012. At the conclusion of the online application process, applicants must attach in electronic format a “pdf” file with a maximum size of 15 MB containing:

1. A Curriculum Vitae with details of achieved degree(s), relevant examination results and/or results of degree requirements with assessment and/or grade (i.e., transcript details), and the date of degree achievement.
2. A Research Proposal (maximum size of one (1) page on A4 paper)
3. A List of Publications

Foreign students are required to provide two recommendation forms & corresponding letters from two university professors either in Italy or abroad. The recommendation form and information about the letter can be found on the Graduate School web page.

Please transmit the scan version of the letters by email directly to the coordinator of the PhD program to which you are applying by 2 May 2012. (Please note, if you are applying to more than one program an original set of letters & forms must be sent to each of the Programs Coordinators). Please, indicate the name of the PhD Program you intend to participate with your full name when presenting the letters.

Candidates whose two letters of recommendation are not received will be excluded from selection.

Eligible candidates whose application has passed preliminary screening will be invited to take part in aSkype interview with the Coordinator (or their delegates) of the applicant’s desired program of study.Candidates will be contacted by the PhD coordinator (or their delegates) by email for fixing the Skype interview.

Candidates will also be excluded from the selection process if they fail to disclose in their Curriculum Vitae relevant examination results and/or results of degree requirements with assessment and/or grade (i.e., transcript details), and the date of degree achievement by 2 May 2012.

Candidates will also be excluded if they hold a degree which the Coordinator does not consider equivalent to an Italian degree or equivalent to the Program’s requirements.

Candidates possessing a degree(s) not achieved in Italy will have to submit to the Administration of the Doctoral School a Declaration of Relative Value (or “Dichiarazione di Valore Relativa al Titolo”) within three months of registration. The Declaration is obtainable from the Italian Embassy or Consulate in the country where the degree was completed.

Students who fail to present the Declaration of Relative Value within three months of registration will be excluded from the program.

Pre-selection applications will be evaluated by the Coordinator or by a Committee appointed by the Coordinator of the PhD Program and they will admit candidates deemed suitable.
