The University of Aberdeen Development Trust is delighted to launch a new International Taught Postgraduate Scholarship programme with the opening of the application process for the first three scholarships for the 2013/2014 academic year.

Each of the University’s three Colleges, Arts & Social Sciences, Life Sciences & Medicine and Physical Sciences, will be able to make one international taught postgraduate scholarship award of £4,000 each year to go towards tuition fees.

Money has been raised thanks to the generosity of alumni, friends and supporters of the University to allow each of the three Colleges to offer a bursary of £4,000 towards tuition fees on an annual basis.

It is hoped that these scholarships will make a real difference to students from all over the world by providing a potentially life-changing experience in Aberdeen.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Arts and Social Sciences award you must be an outstanding international fee paying applicant to any taught postgraduate programme within the College of Arts and Social Sciences - www.abdn.ac.uk/cass 

Criteria

The successful applicant will have achieved the equivalent of a UK first class honours degree and hold a unconditional firm offer to any taught postgraduate course within the College.

Application Procedure

No additional application is necessary for the award. As long as you meet the eligibility criteria you will automatically be considered by the College.

The bursary is currently valued at £1,500 per annum, for a period of up to three years.

Eligibility

Existing postgraduate students, and applicants for a postgraduate degree, are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to students from Christian missionary families, or who may be a member of, or in sympathy with, a mainstream Christian Church. Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they face financial difficulties or would not otherwise be able to participate in a course or venture associated with, or enhancing or augmenting their degree programme. Applicants must demonstrate academic potential.

Chevron North Sea Ltd. is offering one MSc Subsea Engineering Scholarship.

Description

The scholarship is open to all students wishing to commence the full-time MSc in Subsea Engineering in September 2013.
The scholarship is valued at £14,515 for the one year duration of the MSc in Subsea Engineering degree course. This will cover postgraduate tuition fees, with the remainder providing a maintenance stipend.

Carnegie-Cameron Postgraduate Taught Bursaries at University of Aberdeen, UK

These bursaries are funded by the Carnegie Cameron Trust and are for students undertaking a 12 month

taught postgraduate programme.

Description

These bursaries are funded by the Carnegie Cameron Trust and are for students undertaking a one year taught postgraduate programme.

The bursaries are to go towards tuition fees only and can cover fees up to the value of £3,750. If tuition fees for the programme are £3,400, the amount left over from that (i.e. £350) cannot be claimed or used by the student.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for support you must have been accepted to study a one-year, taught postgraduate degree programme at the University. Students undertaking pre-doctoral courses or postgraduate diploma or certificate courses cannot be funded under this Scheme. Bursaries can be awarded to students undertaking a ‘one-year’ programme on a part-time basis over two consecutive years.

Applicants must be Scottish by birth, descent (at least one parent born in Scotland) or have been continuously resident in Scotland for a period of at least three years for the purpose of secondary or tertiary education in Scotland. Residence in Scotland for any other purpose does not make an applicant eligible. Vacations, periods of absence through illness and periods spent outside Scotland as part of a Scottish educational course shall not be taken into account in determining whether the residence has been ‘continuous’.

Criteria

Decisions are taken on the basis of academic merit. Financial circumstances of candidates will also be taken into consideration.
