Fulbright Foreign Language (Indonesian) Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program

Applicants must be English language teachers or currently in training to become the English language teacher and must be able to demonstrate a commitment to language teaching upon return to Indonesia following the award.
The program is for one academic year (9 months) and requires the grantee to teach Indonesian/Javanese language and culture in the U.S. for 20 hours per week, and to Enroll in at least two U.S. Studies and / or ESL methodology classes per semester.

Applicants who are no older than 29 years of age by October 1, 2012 and will possess:
  • a Bachelor’s (S1) degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (scale 4.00)
  • Leadership qualities
  • a good understanding of Indonesian and international cultures
  • a demonstrated commitment to the chosen field of study
  • a willingness to return to their home institution upon completion of the Fulbright program
  • a minimum ITP TOEFL score of 550 or IELTS 6.0 or IBT TOEFL score of 79/80. Please note that TOEFL prediction or TOEFL-like score cannot be accepted.

Fulbright Doctoral Dissertation Research Program, Aminef

This research grant is intended to provide U.S. research opportunities for Indonesian university doctoral candidates who are in the final stages of writing their dissertation. The grant duration is for a period of 3-6 months. The applicant should have a minimum ITP TOEFL score of  575 or IBT Score of 90 or IELTS 6.5 to participate in this program. Please note that TOEFL prediction or TOEFL-like score cannot be accepted.

Beasiswa S2 Manajemen Bisnis Erasmus Mundus

Program beasiswa Erasmus Mundus ini, Masters in Strategic Project Management (European), yang juga dikenal sebagai MSPME, adalah program yang unik dalam bidang Manajemen Bisnis.  Ia adalah satu-satunya program magister yang membawa perspektif internasional kepada permintaan yang tinggi dan terus bertumbuh bagi para pemikir strategis yang dapat melakoni aktivitas inti bisnis dan menyadari kompetisi strategi dalam sektor publik, swasta, dan lembaga swadaya masyarakat melalui implementasi strategi dalam berbagai proyek.

Selama sekira 16 bulan masa studi, peserta program akan belajar di tiga institusi internasional di tiga negara.

Ketiganya adalah Heriot Watt University, School of Management & Languages, di Edinburgh, Inggris; Politecnico di Milano, School of Management di Milan, Italia; dan Umeå University, Umeå School of Business and Economics di Swedia.

Semua proses aplikasi program MSPME dilakukan melalui sistem aplikasi online Heriot-Watt University. Selain formulir pendaftaran, semua berkas pendukung lamaran juga harus diunggah melalui sistem ini. Perlu diingat, semua dokumen harus sudah diterjemahkan ke dalam bahasa Inggris. Dokumen pendukung yang harus dipersiapkan adalah;

Mengenal Sistem Kuliah di Amerika Serikat

Sistem pendidikan di setiap negara umumnya berbeda. Biasanya setiap negara memiliki kekhasan sendiri dalam membuat dan mengaplikasikan sistem pendidikan mereka.

Kita ambil contoh Amerika Serikat (AS). Sistem pendidikan di AS mengacu pada sistem pemerintahannya, yakni pemerintahan federal. Pendidikan di AS dikelola secara desentralisasi melalui pemerintahan negara bagian (states).

Di Amerika Serikat sistem pendidikan menjadi tangggung jawab utama departemen pendidikan pemerintah federal di Washington D.C, namun kegiatan sehari-hari didelegasikan kepada Kantor Pendidikan Distrik (Public School District). School Districts setara dengan rayon di Tanah Air.

Pengelolaan pendidikan oleh negara bagian ini juga diterapkan pada jenjang pendidikan tinggi. Penyelenggaraan pendidikan S-1 di AS dilaksanakan oleh pemerintah negara bagian. Bedanya, jika di Indonesia perguruan tinggi negeri menginduk langsung pada Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan (Kemendikbud), maka di AS, kampus-kampus memiliki kebebasan sendiri dalam menjalankan organisasinya.

Setiap perguruan tinggi milik pemerintah bebas mencari sumber dana sendiri baik dari proyek-proyek penelitian, donasi, dan kegiatan lainnya. Sistem ini memungkinkan mereka menentukan sendiri besaran uang sekolah (tuition) per semester dan iuran (fees) lainnya. Akan tetapi, penentuan besarnya tuition and fees tersebut harus mendapat persetujuan badan penyantun universitas. Demikian seperti dikutip dari buku panduan pendidikan di AS yang dilansir mailing list beasiswa, Senin (26/11/2012).

College dan Universitas

Sistem pendidikan tinggi di AS dapat dibedakan atas universitas dan college. Universitas pada umumnya menawarkan pendidikan sarjana dan pascasarjana. Sedangkan college umumnya lebih berfokus pada pendidikan sarjana. Di Indonesia, college berarti fakultas.

Pendidikan sarjana (S-1) di Negeri Paman Sam biasanya ditempuh selama empat tahun. Setelah lulus, seorang mahasiswa S-1 di AS meraih gelar Bachelor.

Ada sebutan yang berbeda untuk mahasiswa di setiap tingkatnya. Mahasiswa yang baru masuk disebut freshman, kemudian mahasiswa tahun kedua disebut sophomore, mahasiwa tahun ketiga adalah junior, dan mahasiswa tahun keempat atau terakhir disebut senior.

Community College
Jenis college lainnya adalah community college yang lebih ditujukan pada pendidikan keterampilan. Para lulusan community college ini nantinya mendapatkan sertifikat. Lama pendidikan di community college biasanya dua tahun.

Jurusan yang dapat diambil melalui community college di antaranya adalah teknik, bisnis, dan ilmu komputer. Setelah lulus kuliah, alumni community college akan mendapatkan gelar Associate Degree. Di Indonesia gelar Associate Degree setara dengan diploma tiga (D-3).

Seseorang yang lulus dari community college bisa melanjutkan kuliah ke college yang menawarkan gelar Bachelor. Tahapan perpindahan ini dilakukan dengan mentransfer sebagian besar kredit yang telah mereka dapatkan di community college ke college reguler. Setelah itu, para lulusan community college pun masuk ke college sebagai mahasiswa junior. Untuk mendapatkan gelar Bachelor, lulusan community college membutuhkan dua sampai tiga tahun.

DIKTI funded Fulbright Doctoral Dissertation Research Program

This research grant is intended to provide U.S. research opportunities for doctoral candidates who are in the final stages of writing their dissertation at an Indonesian University, and are also serving as faculty members at any private or state higher education institutions. The grant duration is for a period of four months. The applicant should have a minimum ITP TOEFL score of 525 or IELTS 5.5 or IBT TOEFL score of 70/71 to participate in this program. Please note that TOEFL prediction or TOEFL-like score cannot be accepted.
