Mengenali Karakter Dosen

Keberanian kita untuk berdiskusi dengan dosen di kelas, merupakan hal penting dalam kuliah. Sebab, dengan komunikasi dua arah, materi dari sang dosen bisa diserap lebih luas.  
Tetapi, berdiskusi dengan dosen secara berlebihan di dalam kelas juga bisa dipersepsikan memonopoli pertanyaan dan dicap sebagai mahasiswa cari muka. Lalu bagaimana mengatasi sejumlah materi yang tidak dipahami?
 
Ada berbagai cara, misalkan, saat selesai kuliah hampiri sang dosen dan ajukan pertanyaan secara baik-baik. Jika sang dosen tenggelam dengan pertanyaan mahasiswa lainnya, kamu bisa menemui dosen di ruang dosen. Atau meminta nomor telepon untuk membuat janji terlebih dahulu.
 
Usaha mencari ilmu seperti itu sebenarnya sah-sah saja. Tetapi, kita perlu terlebih dahulu mengenal karakter dosen. Tujuannya, agar komunikasi semakin lancar dan bisa memahami materi secara baik. Berikut beberapa karakter dosen yang perlu diketahui.
 
1. Dosen 3 M

Dosen 3 M adalah istilah dosen yang terfokus pada kegiatan mencatat, merangkum, dan memberikan tugas. Dosen seperti ini biasanya text book. Nah, berkomunikasilah secara persuasif agar bisa memahami materi dengan utuh.
2. Dosen pintar tetapi tidak komunikatif
Dosen merupakan sosok yang memiliki banyak ilmu tetapi terkadang terkendala faktor komunikasi sehingga transformasi ilmu tidak lancar. Jika komunikasi dilakukan lebih personal, misalkan dengan sekelompok teman yang jumlahnya tidak terlalu banyak, mungkin mahasiswa bisa bertanya lebih leluasa.
 
3. Dosen dengan jam terbang minim
Bukan hal mustahil jika mendapat dosen yang baru saja mengawali kariernya. Dosen seperti ini biasanya idealis dan mau berdiskusi dengan mahasiswa. Tetapi, bukan berarti bisa bersikap seenaknya. Tetap ada batasan dan etika yang perlu diterapkan.
 
4. Dosen super sibuk
Menghadapi dosen yang memiliki jam kerja padat, susah-susah gampang. Biasanya dia seorang praktisi atau menjadi dosen di sejumlah kampus. Caranya, buatlah janji secara berkelompok. Cara ini juga memudahkan sang dosen untuk mengatur waktu. Maksimalkan waktu yang telah disediakan, sehingga terjadi pertemuan yang berkualitas.

AUN/SEED-Net Doctoral Scholarships Program for ASEAN Countries Students, Japan

The AUN/SEED-Net Project with support from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) provides scholarships for prospective applicantsfrom AUN-SEED/Net Member Institutions to pursue doctoral degrees in engineering at one ofthe following Japanese Supporting Universities: Hokkaido University, National Graduate Institute of Policy Studies, Keio University, Kyoto University, Kyushu University, Tokai University, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Toyohashi University of Technology, University of Tokyo, Shibaura Institute of Technology, and Waseda University.

The fields of study that can be supported by the AUN/SEED-Net are as follows: Civil Engineering (CE), Chemical Engineering (ChE), Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), Environmental Engineering (EnvE), Geological Engineering (GeoE), Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Manufacturing Engineering (ManuE), Materials Engineering (MatE), and Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering (ME/AE). Under the above 9 fundamental engineering fields, applicants, if interested, may also propose
any research topic(s) related to the new five (5) interdisciplinary areas (Biotechnology, Disaster Mitigation, Environment, Natural Resources/Materials, and New/Renewable Energy). 

Although studying outside ASEAN countries, students under the Doctoral Degree Program in Japan are encouraged to participate in AUN/SEED-Net’s network activities (e.g. AUN/SEED-Net Regional Conference, Collaborative Research activities, etc.) so as to create, maintain, and deepen the linkage with Member Institutions (student’s sending institution and/or student’s hosting institution when pursued master’s degree).

2. Objectives
(1) To increase the number of high quality doctoral degree holders in engineering at Member Institutions to contribute to a sustainable industrial development of ASEAN countries through conducting highly qualified education and researches.
(2) To strengthen human networking of teaching and research staff among Member Institutions and Japanese Supporting Universities.

3. Qualifications
(1) Applicants must have a research-based master’s degree in relevant engineering field or to be awarded the master’s degree before starting doctoral degree study.
(2) Applicants should be ranked within top 10% of the class for Bachelor’s Degree, in principle, (a certified document of class rank is required).
(3) Applicant should have a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3 or more in the 4-scale grading system or at least 7.5 in the 10-scale grading system, with some English competency. (TOEFL score or equivalent test is required.)
(4) Applicants must be outstanding graduates of Master’s Degree Program of AUN/SEED-Net Project, or outstanding young teaching staff or research staff of Member Institutions, who are strongly motivated to have a professional career as teaching staff at Member Institutions.
(5) Applicants, in principle, should have at least one recent (not older than 2 years) research publication in refereed national or international journal.
(6) Applicants must be under the age of 35 at the time of enrollmentand capable of carrying out independent research.

4. Duration of Scholarships
The duration of the scholarship is strictly three years.

5. Coverage of the Scholarships
Tuition fees, living expenses, health insurance, and a round-trip air ticket will be provided as per JICA regulations.

6. Application for Scholarships

The application procedure is as follows:
6.1 Application and screening process
(1) The applicants for the Doctoral Degree Program in Japan submit the AUN/SEED-Net’s Application Form for Scholarship along with other required documents (please refer to Application Form of the Doctoral Degree Program in Japan 2013, Item No. 12-13) to the contact person of the Member Institutions to which the applicants belong (sending institutions). (List of contact person at each Member Institution is given in Attachment 3.)
Please note that at this stage, applicants are required to submit the names of their proposed Japanese advisors and Japanese Support Universities, but there is no need to submit application form of those universities.
(2) The contact person of each sending institution sends a collection of Application Forms endorsed by the Member Institution to the AUN/SEED-Net Project. Please note that individual applications sent to AUN/SEED-Net Project will not be accepted. However, Sending Institutions could submit the collection of application forms more than once towards the Deadline.
(In case of applicants studying overseas, Application Forms as well as other required documents can be submitted directly to AUN/SEED-Net Project, provided that the applicants request the contact person of their respective Sending Institution to submit an endorsement letter to AUN/SEED-Net.)
(3) The AUN/SEED-Net Project will check all required documents and request missing documents from applicants through Sending Institutions, if necessary.
(4) The AUN/SEED-Net Project will conduct initial screening and send the results to applicants’ sending institutions. At the same time, the AUN/SEED-Net Project will consult with concerned Japanese Supporting Universities for possibility of accepting the applicant in the event that the applicant is awarded a scholarship and passes the entrance examination.
*Applicants are encouraged to contact by themselves a prospective advisor of their preference at a Japanese Supporting University for consent on acceptance in the event the applicants are awarded a scholarship and pass the entrance examination. It will be an advantage in the screening process if the applicant can obtain and enclose such consent letter (or copy of e-mail communication) from a prospective advisor in this application as it can fasten the screening process.
(5) After the communication with Japanese Supporting Universities, the AUN/SEED-Net Project prioritizes the applicants and sends the result to JICA Headquarters. JICA Headquarters then make the decision on the selection of the successful applicants by April2013.
(6) The AUN/SEED-Net Project or JICA Office in each country informs the results to the Member Institutions/Members countries officially to which the applicants belong in April 2013.
(7) The process after sending the official notifications may be different in terms of countries or Japanese universities. AUN/SEED-Net Project, in cooperation with the JICA Office in the respective countries, will advise the scholarship awardees on the necessary procedures.

6.2. Official request from a member country to the Japanese Government
(1)  JICA Headquarters will instruct JICA Office in the member country of the successful candidate to submit the JICA Application Form. The Form should be prepared by the successful candidate with the endorsement ofhis/her Sending Institution and submitted to the Embassy of Japan or the JICA office in each country through the coordinating ministry of agency responsible for international cooperation in the country.
(2)  When the JICA Application Form is endorsed by the Member Institution, a photocopy of the form should be sent directly to the AUN/SEED-Net Project prior to forwarding it.
(3)  After receiving the JICA Application Form, JICA will examine the candidacy and send an official notice of acceptance or rejection to the government concerned.
(4)  It is expected that the enrolment of successful candidates will take place between September 2013 and March 2014.

7. Submission Deadline of the Application Form
Applications for the Doctoral Degree Program in Japan should be submitted both in soft copy and in printed form, by October 31 (Wed), 2012to the AUN/SEED-Net Project. They must be signed by the Dean or the Representative of the AUN/SEED-Net Member Institution to which the applicants originally belong.

8. Scholarship Allocation
The allocation policy of scholarships for each fiscal year is as follows. The high priority is given to the fresh graduates of Master’s Degree Program of AUN/SEED-Net Project. Among teaching staff of Member Institutions, the high priority is given to those who are in the host field of Host Institution.

9. Remarks
Applicants must submit the health check-up certificate before proposed departure date. Applicants who are pregnant or suffer from chronic diseases, e.g., respiratory illness, cardiac disease, metabolic disease (diabetes, etc.), renal dysfunction and immune insufficiency (systemic steroid administration, etc.) shall not be approved of the visit to Japan in principal.

Students with a conditional offer of admission must have demonstrated that they meet all the conditions of their offer, and have received acknowledgement from the International Office that their offer is unconditional, before lodging an application for a scholarship.

Global Undergraduate Exchange program, AMINEF

The Office of Academic Exchange Programs in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U. S. Department of State is pleased to announce an exchange program for undergraduate students - The 2013 Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global UGRAD).  
                       
The Global UGRAD Program provides scholarships for one semester or one academic year of U.S. Study in a NON-DEGREE Program. The goals of the program are to provide a diverse group of emerging student leaders, from non-elite and underrepresented groups in Indonesia and East Asia.

www.acehscholarships.comAll global UGRAD Program participants will be enrolled full-time in undergraduate course work chosen from the institution’s (US) existing curriculum to allow students ample opportunity for ongoing interaction with U.S. Faculty and student peers, and for exposure to U.S. academic and classroom culture.

To ensure that students succeed in their new academic environments, host institutions will offer tailored instruction on topics including academic research and writing, critical thinking, time management, note taking, and studying for and taking tests. Participants will live on campus with American peers.

Students will also be provided with opportunities to participate in up to ten hours of community service per semester. Additionally, an internship component will be offered to all academic-year participants during the academic component of the program. Internships will be related to each participant’s field of study and/or career plans.

Participants may be eligible for up to 4 weeks of intensive English Language instruction in the United States prior to the start of academic portion of their program.


Eligibility:
  1. Scholarships will be granted to students who are currently enrolled in S-1 degree programs only, and have completed their first and up to the fifth semester of undergraduate study at an Indonesian university, by November 1, 2012. Please note that those who are in the sixth semester and above are not eligible to apply.
  2. Applicants should demonstrate leadership potential through academic work, community involvement, and extracurricular activities.
  3. Applicants must have a valid minimum ITP TOEFL score of 500 or IELTS 5.0 or IBT TOEFL score of 60/61. (TOEFL prediction or TOEFL-like score cannot be accepted).
  4. Preference will be given to those who have had little or NO experience in the U.S. or outside of their home countries.
  5. Applications can be for either for one semester or two semester based on nominee’s availability. No applications should be submitted for both one semester and two semester programs.
  6. Applicants are required to return to Indonesia after the completion of the program.

Community College Initiative Program, Aminef

This international educational exchange program enables individuals to study at a community college in the United States to develop professional skills.
Eligible fields are Business Management and Administration; Tourism and Hospitality Management; Early Childhood Education; Media; Information Technology; Agriculture; and Engineering Science. (Specific fields of interest can be found on the CCIP application form). 

ELIGIBILITY

  • Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree are eligible, if they are applying in a field different from the field of their degree and have relevant work experience in the field for which they are applying.

Students are required to return home at the end of their program and may not transfer to a four-year U.S. academic institution.

CGI – ASEAN Foundation Joint Postgraduate Scholarships Program, Thailand

The Chulabhorn Graduate Institute (CGI) and the ASEAN Foundation (AF) have entered into an agreement to develop highly qualified human resources in the area of science and technology within ASEAN member countries through the Chulabhorn Graduate Institute - ASEAN Foundation Post-Graduate
Scholarship Program in Science and Technology. 

The CGI is a multidisciplinary post-graduate academic institute established in 2005, under the initiative of Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Mahidol. The aim of CGI is to employ the most recent interactive teaching techniques used in leading educational and research institutions to train students in the program to be effective thinkers and leaders in their fields of expertise, to better serve their countries’ needs towards sustainable development. The CGI is presently offering programs leading to a Post -Graduate diploma, a Master’s degree and a Doctoral degree in Applied Biological Sciences: Environmental Health, Environmental Toxicology, and Chemical Biology. 

The ASEAN Foundation, an initiative of the Leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), was established on 15 December 1997 to help bring about shared prosperity and a sustainable future for the peoples of all ASEAN countries. It has been mandated to promote greater awareness of
ASEAN and greater interaction among its peoples and their increased participation in ASEAN activities as well as to undertake development cooperation activities that enhance mutual assistance, address equitable
economic development and reduce poverty. This year, 7 (seven) scholarships are available for ASEAN nationals (except Thai citizen) who are interested to pursue a Master Degree at the CGI. Selection of successful applicants will be based on merit.

Eligibility
  • Scholarships are open to bonafide ASEAN nationals (except Thai citizen)
  • Hold a Bachelor’s Degree with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00
  • Have at least 2 years work experiences in related field. Applicants with laboratory research experiences will receive favorable consideration
  • Applicants must have demonstrated English proficiency, preferably on one of two recognized test of language proficiency (TOEFL, IELTS)
  • Applicants must provide a statement of purpose explaining their interests in the study

Scholarship Coverage

Beasiswa Islamic Development Bank (IDB): Beasiswa dengan Tunjangan Hidup Keluarga

Untuk rekan-rekan yang ingin melanjutkan studi ke luar negeri, tetapi sering terkendala dengan masalah tidak bisa mengajak serta keluarga karena dana beasiswa yang terbatas, beasiswa dari Islamic Development Bank ini bisa menjadi alternatif untuk bisa studi lanjut keluar negeri . Islamic Development Bank (IDB)  adalah sebuah organisasi ekonomi yang berpusat di Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. IDB memberikan program beasiswa ini kepada negara-negara anggota dan muslim community di negara-negara non-anggota IDB sebagai bentuk dukungan terhadap pembangunan sumber daya manusia di negara-negara tersebut.

Ada 3 tipe beasiswa yang ditawarkan oleh IDB, meliputi:
1. Scholarship Programme for Muslim Communities in Non-member Countries
2. M.Sc Scholarship Programme in Science and Technology for IDB Least Developed Member Countries
3. Merit Scholarship Programme for High Technology

Untuk pelamar dari Indonesia, hanya program no. 3 yang dapat diikuti untuk saat ini, yaitu Merit Scholarship Programme for High Technology. Program ini menawarkan beasiswa untuk mengikuti Program PhD (untuk 3 tahun) dan Post Doc (untuk 6-12 bulan).

Persyaratan dan Fasilitas dari beasiswa IDB

IDB menetapkan beberapa kriteria bagi seseorang untuk bisa melamar pada program Merit Scholarship Programme for High Technology, yaitu:
    1. Berusia tidak lebih dari 35 tahun (untuk program PhD) dan 40 tahun (untuk program Post Doc)
    2. Merupakan anggota institusi penelitian atau institusi akademik di negara asal. Untuk Indonesia, IDB lebih menyukai dosen atau peneliti di lembaga penelitian.
    3. Memiliki pengalaman kerja dan penelitian di bidang yang relevan yaitu science dan technology minimal 2 tahun. Ini dibuktikan dengan menyertakan copy publikasi ilmiah atau penelitian yang relevan.
    4. Mempunyai proposal riset yang baik dan jelas, terkait dengan pembangunan science dan technology di negara asal.
    5. Mempunyai kemampuan bahasa yang memenuhi kriteria untuk menempuh pendidikan di negara tujuan.
Untuk kriteria bidang Science dan Technology dari IDB, biasanya akan berubah setiap tahunnya. Sehingga untuk memastikan bidang yang tercakup dalam beasiswa ini, sekiranya rekan-rekan bisa melihat ke website IDB scholarship. Tautan:
Akan lebih baik juga jika rekan-rekan sudah memilki offer letter (conditional atau unconditional) dari sebuah universitas. IDB lebih menyukai pelamar yang sudah memiliki offer letter dari universitas yang masuk dalam rangking 200 besar versi Times Higher Education (THES), sehingga sebelum melamar, hendaknya rekan-rekan bisa merujuk pada rangking universitas di THES. Jika belum memiliki offer letter, tidak ada salahnya juga tetap mencoba. IDB menetapkan kriteria penilaian tersendiri untuk menyeleksi calon penerima beasiswa IDB atau yang dikenal dengan IDB Scholars. Jika proposal riset yang kita susun baik dan jelas dan memenuhi kriteria IDB, proses mencari institusi tempat belajar bisa dilanjutkan setelah dinyatakan diterima sebagai IDB Scholars. IDB memberikan waktu selama 12 bulan sejak dinyatakan menerima beasiswa IDB, untuk mencari institusi tempat belajar. Jika tidak bisa memenuhi dalam jangka waktu 12 bulan, dengan berat hati IDB akan mencabut hak beasiswa ini.

Fasilitas yang diberikan oleh IDB untuk IDB scholars juga cukup baik, tidak kalah dengan beasiswa yang lain. Fasilitas ini meliputi:
    1. Pembayaran tuition fee dan/atau research bench fee.
    2. Tunjangan hidup, jumlahnya tergantung negara tujuan. Untuk UK, saat ini tunjangan hidup adalah £975 per bulan. Untuk yang membawa keluarga, ada tunjangan untuk spouse (suami/istri) sebesar £400 per bulan ditambah tunjangan hidup untuk anak sebesar 15% per anak (dicover hingga anak ke empat).
    3. Tunjangan untuk buku dan pakaian, saat ini sebesar USD 100 per bulan.
    4. Tunjangan pembelian computer, saat ini sebesar USD 1200
    5. Tunjangan mengikuti konferensi, saat ini sebesar USD 1500, untuk digunakan selama masa studi.
    6. Tunjangan untuk settlement saat pertama datang, besarnya 1 (satu) kali tunjangan hidup perbulan.
    7. Tunjangan untuk thesis preparation, besarnya USD 250.
    8. Tiket pulang dan pergi dari negara asal ke negara tujuan, digunakan saat berangkat dan pulang setelah selesai studi.

Langkah-langkah mendaftar beasiswa IDB

Beasiswa IDB ini dibuka mulai bulan September setiap tahunnya. Untuk proses seleksi awal dilakukan di negara asal. Untuk Indonesia, seleksi dilakukan oleh pejabat yang berwenang di Departemen Keuangan.

Berikut time-table proses pendaftaran beasiswa IDB:

    • Januari-Maret : Proses seleksi oleh IDB, Jeddah
    • April-Mei:  Pengumuman shortlisted candidates. Pengiriman kelengkapan berkas ke IDB, Jeddah.
    • Juni- Juli: Proses seleksi oleh IDB, Jeddah
    • Agustus: Pengumuman hasil seleksi akhir. Pengiriman offer letter scholarship. Penandatanganan persetujuan atau penolakan offer scholarship dari IDB
    • September: Kontrak scholarship dimulai dan berjalan (jika menerima).

Strategi Jitu Belajar di Negeri Orang


Sudah tentu kemampuan berbahasa asing adalah modal utama ketika Anda memilih untuk melanjutkan studi ke luar negeri. Minimal, bahasa Inggris harus dikuasai. Anda hanya perlu meningkatkan kemampuan bahasa Inggris sambil bersabar saat terjun langsung dalam sistem pembelajaran internasional. 

Memang, mula-mula Anda akan mengalami kesulitan memahami dan berbicara bahasa Inggris secara langsung, namun situasi akan meningkatkan kemampuan Anda selama berada di sana. Orang mungkin meminta Anda mengulangi sesuatu, tetapi mereka bersedia untuk mencoba lagi untuk memahami Anda. Percayalah, bahasa asing bukan momok untuk bisa melanjutkan studi di negeri orang.

Jangan menerjemahkan setiap kata atau Anda akan kehilangan jejak ide umum, dan Anda tidak akan pernah menyelesaikan bacaan Anda. Cobalah membaca untuk mendapatkan ide umum setiap paragraf. Lanjutkan saja, jika Anda merasa bingung dengan sebuah kata atau bahkan sebuah kalimat.

Semakin banyak Anda membaca, itu akan memperjelas bacaan Anda. Jika Anda masih bingung di akhir paragraf, berhenti pada titik itu dan gunakan kamus Anda untuk satu atau dua kata yang dianggap penting.

Saat Anda membaca, berhenti di akhir setiap bagian. Tanyakan pada diri Anda gagasan utama bagian tersebut dan kemudian tulislah pesan singkat di tepi kertas buku atau makalah dan garis bawahi beberapa kata dari bacaan teks. Lalu, perhatikan grafik dan diagram, jika ada, serta pastikan Anda memahaminya.

Sebelum membaca sebuah bab, diperlukan beberapa menit untuk melihat garis besar bab dan membolak-balik halaman tersebut, kemudian mencoba melihat organisasi dan ide yang paling penting dari bab itu. Lalu kaji ulang bab tersebut setiap Anda selesai membacanya.

Membuat kartu kosakata untuk menulis kata bahasa asing yang penting atau baru dengan terjemahannya di sisinya bisa membuat upaya Anda efektif.

Kuliah dan mendengarkan

Jika Anda kurang memahami sesuatu, Anda bisa melewatkan satu atau dua baris yang dijelaskan dosen, namun setelah kelas usai, cobalah dapatkan informasi tadi dari teman sekelas Anda.

Melengkapi catatan saat di kelas membantu Anda untuk memahami ide-ide yang paling penting, dan dapat memastikan semua pelajaran yang diterima menjadi jelas.

Jika Anda mengalami masalah dengan aksen dosen atau profesor Anda, cobalah membawa alat perekam. Dengarkan beberapa kali pada bagian tertentu yang Anda kurang pahami sebelumnya. Dengan demikian, Anda akan terbiasa dengan aksennya dan bisa memahami lebih baik lagi.

Berbicara bahasa Inggris

Hal pertama yang harus dilakukan adalah mengatasi rasa takut karena orang lain akan menilai Anda atau menertawakan Anda dalam berbahasa asing. Satu-satunya yang bisa dilakukan adalah menerima keadaan tersebut jika terjadi. 

Namun, tentu Anda tetap perlu berusaha. Anda perlu mengomitmenkan waktu, setidaknya setengah jam sehari, untuk berbicara bahasa Inggris dengan teman-teman Anda, mungkin sambil makan siang atau setelah menonton berita bersama.

Anda juga bisa "memaksa diri" untuk melakukan percakapan sederhana dengan orang asli setempat. Temukan seseorang yang tidak terlalu sibuk dan bisa diajak berbicara, mungkin dengan petugas perpustakaan, orang lain yang sedang menunggu bus untuk menanyakan arah, pemilik sebuah toko kecil untuk menanyakan tentang cuaca atau barang-barang di toko, atau orang yang Anda pikir bisa diajak berbicara. Dengan "obrolan ringan" ini, Anda bisa belajar meniru gaya mereka dalam bercakap-cakap.

Buatlah daftar kata yang belum dipahami yang sudah diucapkan oleh "guru-guru" Anda itu. Tanyakan pada mereka cara mengucapkan kata-kata tersebut, dan mungkin Anda bisa merekamnya, lalu berlatihlah untuk mengucapkan kata-kata itu. Jika perlu, ucapkan di hadapan mereka sehingga bisa langsung dikoreksi.

Belajar untuk Ujian

Jangan hanya menghafal informasi. Pendidikan, misalnya di Amerika, lebih fokus pada pemahaman ide-ide dari pada sekadar menghafal daftar fakta.

Tinggallah lebih lama di dalam kelas. Biasanya, usai kelas, profesor akan mengajukan sebuah pertanyaan atau mungkin mendengarkan pertanyaan dari siswa yang lain.

Belajar dengan sekelompok kecil pelajar lain juga dapat membantu menperjelas ide satu sama lain dan mendiskusikan apa yang Anda pikirkan mengenai hal-hal penting yang mungkin keluar pada ujian nanti.

Jika Anda akan mengambil tes esai, cobalah meminta profesor Anda untuk memberikan pertanyaan sampel, mungkin salah satunya mirip dengan yang akan diujikan terakhir. Anda juga dapat menulis pertanyaan Anda sendiri, kemudian berlatih menjawab pertanyaannya. 

Jika Anda merasa kewalahan atas sejumlah materi dalam belajar, mungkin Anda butuh untuk melakukan hal lain kecuali belajar. Setidaknya Anda ingat, efisiensi belajar Anda akan turun jika Anda tidak istirahat secara reguler, mendapatkan cukup tidur, dan menikmati beberapa rekreasi. Selalu sempatkan untuk melakukannya.

Beasiswa Pendidikan Kader Ulama 2012, Kementerian Agama RI

Disadari bahwa kondisi keagamaan di Indonesia saat ini menunjukkan butuhnya terhadap kader ulama dan pengasuh pondok pesantren yang mumpuni. Kebutuhan itu cenderung pada tingkat yang mendesak. Hal ini didasarkan atas identifikasi beberapa kenyataan berikut. Pertama, semakin langkanya ulama dan pengasuh pondok pesantren akibat meninggal dunia, sehingga umat semakin butuh terhadap figur yang dapat diteladani dan sekaligus generasi pelanjut dalam pengasuhan pondok pesantren. Kedua, sosok tokoh yang memiliki kompetensi ulama sangat minim. Kebijakan dan konstruk sosial belakangan cenderung kurang memberikan ruang yang cukup terhadap pengayaan dan pembinaan atas kelangsungan ulama sehingga sedikit banyak berimplikasi terhadap rendahnya kualitas atas ketokohan ulama. Ketiga, belum adanya proses regenerasi pengasuh pondok pesantren yang baik. Pola kaderisasi pengasuh pondok pesantren belum mencerminkan pada penyiapan penerus pondok pesantren yang mapan. Keempat, umat muslim di Indonesia perlu untuk dibimbing sehingga tidak terjerumus pada kondisi yang memprihatinkan.

http://www.acehscholarships.com/Atas dasar kenyataan di atas, Kementerian Agama RI Cq. Direktorat Pendidikan Diniyah dan Pondok Pesantren Direktur Jenderal Pendidikan Islam, secara institusional, menilai penting untuk mengembangkan program yang berorientasi atas keberlangsungan kader ulama.

B. Tujuan
Program ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan kader _ulama di bidang Ushul Fiqh dan Ilmu Falak yang memiliki sikap, mental, dan kemampuan akademis keagamaan Islam (tafaqquh fiddin) dan kompetensi keilmuan setingkat magister (S2).

C. Target Program
a. Bidang Ushul Fiqh
Menghasilkan 25 (dua puluh lima) kader ulama bidang Ushul Fiqh yang memiliki:
1. Sikap, mental ulama dan kompetensi keilmuan Ushul Fiqh serta pengalaman tradisi akademik keagamaan Islam (tafaqquh fiddin) melalui proses pembelajar di Ma'had Ali;
2. Hafalan Al-Quran minimal 5 (lima) juz;
3. Berijazah magister (S2) dari perguruan tinggi yang terakreditasi;
4. Tesis yang diterbitkan, diutamakan berbahasa Arab/Inggris.
b. Bidang Ilmu Falak
Menghasilkan 25 (dua puluh lima) kader ulama bidang Ilmu Falak yang memiliki:
1. Sikap, mental ulama dan kompetensi keilmuan Ilmu Falak serta pengalaman tradisi akademik keagamaan islam (tafaqquh fiddin) melalui proses pembelajar di Ma'had Ali;
2. Hafalan Al-Quran minimal 3 (tiga) juz;
3. Berijazah magister (S2) dari perguruan tinggi yang terakreditasi;
4. Tesis yang diterbitkan, diutamakan berbahasa Arab/ Inggris.


D. Penyelenggara
a. Bidang Ushul Fiqh
Ma'had Ali Al-Hikamus Salafiyah (MH5) Pondok Pesantren BabakanCiwaringin Cirebon bekerjasama dengan IAIN (Institut Agama Islam Negeri) Syekh Nurjati Cirebon Jawa Barat.
b. Bidang Ilmu Falak
Ma'had Ali Ilmu Falak “Al-Mahfudz” Seblak, Desa Kwaron, Diwek, Jombang bekerjasama dengan Universitas Sunan Giri (Unsuri) Sidoarjo, Jawa Timur.

E. Proses Pendidikan
Pendidikan kader ulama berlangsung selama 2 (dua) tahun, yakni tahun anggaran 2012 sampai 2013. Peserta harus menetap di pondok pesantren yang ditunjuk untuk mengikuti proses pembelajaran keagamaan Islam (tofoqquh fiddin) dari Ma'had Ali dan proses pendidikan magister (52) pada perguruan tinggi yang ditunjuk. Peserta yang mengikuti program ini tidak diperkenankan mengundurkan diri atau putus (drop out) dari pelaksanaan program, hingga tercapai target program yang telah ditentukan. Peserta yang lulus seleksi
berhak mendapatkan layanan akademis, fasilitas dan biaya hidup (living cost) yang ditentukan dan tidak ada biaya apapun.

F. Seleksi Peserta
a. Persyaratan
1. Bidang Ushul Fiqh
1. Umum
a. Mampu membaca dan memahami kitab kuning;
b. Sanggup tinggal di pondok pesanten yang telah ditunjuk selama proses pendidikan;
c. Berkomitmen mengikuti program hingga selesai (selama 2 tahun). Jika mengundurkan diri/tidak lulus
maka harus mengembalikan biaya pendidikan yang telah diterima.
d. Tidak sedang menerima beasiswa pendidikan dari lembaga manapun.


2. Khusus
a. Ustad/ Santri pada pondok pesantren;
b. Berusia maksimal 35 tahun (lahir maksimal 1 Oktober 1977);
c. Hafal Al-Quran, minimal juz 'Amma
d. Berijazah S1 dari program studi keagamaan;
e. Berijazah MA (Madrasah Aliyah) atau berijazah Pesantren Mu'adalah;
f.  Mendapatkan rekomendasi dari pengasuh pesantren;
g. Membuat makalah terkait Ushul Fiqh (sekitar 10 halaman, A4, spasi 1,5).

2. Bidang Ilmu Falak
1. Umum
a. Diutamakan mampu membaca dan memahami kitab kuning serta memiliki kemampuan bahasa
Arab/Inggris;
b. Sanggup tinggal di pondok pesanten yang telah ditunjuk selama proses pendidikan;
c. Berkomitmen mengikuti program hingga selesai (selama 2 tahun). Jika mengundurkan diri/tidak lulus maka harus mengembalikan biaya pendidikan yang telah diterima.
d. Tidak sedang menerima beasiswa pendidikan dari lembaga manapun.

2. Khusus
a. Ustad/ Santri pada pondok pesantren;
b. Berusia maksimal 35 tahun (lahir maksimal 1 Oktober 1977);
c. Hafal Al-Quran, minimal juz 'Amma
d. Berijazah S1 dari program studi keagamaan atau sains;

Peserta yang berminat mengikuti seleksi wajib mengisi form terlampir dan melengkapi berkas lainnya. Berkas dapat diserahkan secara langsung atau via pos selambat-lambatnya diterima pada tanggal 1 Oktober 2012,

Academic Excellence Scholarships (AES) for International Students, La Trobe University, Australia

La Trobe’s Academic Excellence Scholarships are targeted towards high achieving international students from all countries across all of La Trobe’s undergraduate and postgraduate coursework programs.  The awards are for newly commencing students only, and are non-renewable lump sums awarded across a maximum period of two semesters (or twelve months).

The AES Awards are open to international students proposing to undertake undergraduate and coursework full degrees at La Trobe (noting that Higher Degree Research, Exchange, Study Abroad, ELICOS and Foundation Studies and Diploma students are ineligible).

Mendapatkan kesempatan studi melalui beasiswa mungkin menjadi keinginan banyak orang. Dengan terbatasnya kursi untuk mendapatkannya, maka perlu trik dan strategi agar bisa memenangkan peluang yang tersedia. 

Beberapa sekolah ada yang menawarkan beasiswa sebelum masuk kuliah. Beberapa beasiswa juga diberikan atas dasar prestasi, beasiswa minat, atau juga beasiswa budaya, dan lainnya. Cara terbaik untuk mencari beasiswa adalah dengan melakukan riset terlebih dahulu. Setiap sekolah dan universitas, biasanya memiliki kerja sama dengan berbagai penyedia beasiswa.

Nah, sebelum berburu, ada baiknya mengetahui hal-hal yang harus dipersiapkan, seluk beluk dan jenis-jenis beasiswa.

Beasiswa Berdasarkan Jasa
Beasiswa hibah biasanya banyak tipe dan jenisnya. Orang yang menerima biasanya diberikan karena prestasi akademik dan kinerja keseluruhan akademis mereka.

Beasiswa Berbasis Kebutuhan (tidak mampu)
Jenis beasiswa yang diberikan berarti murni soal keuangan. Panitia biasanya melihat berbagai alasan dari kesulitan-kesulitan orang ini. Dalam proses perekrutan, terkdang Anda harus melewati berbagai test sesusai kempuan olahraga Anda. Tentunya, Anda harus lulus setiap tahapannya.

Beasiswa Sekolah Individu
Setiap sekolah menawarkan beasiswa spesifik yang relevan dengan kriteria dari universitas masing-masing. Beasiswa yang diberikan bisa dari pendonor, sumbangan atas nama pribadi, beasiswa swasta, dan sebagainya. Terkadang, Anda harus mendaftar langsung ke penyedia beasiswa, dan saat menerima beasiswa tersebut, mungkin Anda akan ditempatkan kerja dalam  grup/instansi tersebut.

Beasiswa Full / Parsial
Jika beruntung, Anda bisa menerima beasiswa penuh. Penyedia beasiswa akan menutupi biaya hidup, kebutuhan buku, dan dana pendidikan. Tetapi ada juga beasiswa parsial, di mana mereka hanya memberikan dana untuk kebutuhan membeli buku, atau bagian dari biaya pendidikan lain, sedangkan biaya hidup tidak termasuk di dalamnya. Akan tetapi, jika Anda diberi berbagai macam beasiswa, sebaiknya ambil dan jalankan. Beasiswa jenis ini tidak menuntut apa-apa, kecuali prestasi yang Anda pertahankan selama belajar.

Jika sudah tahu jenis beasiswa apa yang paling didambakan, maka lakukan tips dan trik dibawah ini untuk bagaimana cara Anda mendapatkan beasiswa tersebut :

1. Carilah informasi beasiswa kuliah tentang setidaknya satu tahun sebelum Anda mendaftarkan diri untuk masuk;

CUD Scholarships Program for Developing Countries, Belgium

Overview of the Scholarships programmeWithin the programme for international courses and training programmes, CIUF-CUD grants each year 150 scholarships for participation into the courses and 70 for participation into the training programmes.
You will find on this site a list of international courses and training programmes for which there is a possibility of scholarship and, for information purposes, the modalities of introduction of an application as well as the rules of selection in force within the 2013-2014 programme.

RULES OF SELECTION
The following criteria will apply for the selection of holders of scholarships:

  1. Only applicants originating in developing countries, qualify for selection. To be eligible, candidates must reside and work in their country at the time of the introduction of the file.
  2. ONLY the nationals of the following countries are authorized to postulate with our SCHOLARSHIPS :

South Africa, Algeria, Bangladesh, Benin, Bolivia, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cambodia, Cameroon, China, Colombia, Ivory Coast, Cuba, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Guinea, Haïti, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Mozambique, Nicaragua, Niger, Uganda, Peru, Philippines, Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, El Salvador, Senegal, Suriname, Tanzania, Palestinian territories, Vietnam, Zambia, Zimbabwe
  4. At the beginning of the programme, candidates must be less than 40 years old for courses, and less than 45 years old for training programmes.

  5. Candidates must be holders of a degree that is comparable to a Belgian University graduate degree ("licence"). However, for certain programmes different rules of admissibility may be defined, and these are specified hereafter, where appropriate.

  6. Candidates must show professional experience of at least two years upon termination of their studies. Where candidates are holders of a postgraduate degree delivered by an university of an industrial country, they must show professional experience of at least three years upon termination of their studies.

  7. Candidates must have a good knowledge of written and spoken French; for programmes organised in another language, good knowledge, in writing and speaking, of this language, is required. Moreover, the candidate will be asked to commit himself to study French in order to be able to participate in daily life in Belgium.

  8. Candidates are not allowed to apply FOR MORE THAN ONE PROGRAMME.
Applicants must not first obtain admission to one of the French-speaking universities of Belgium in order to apply for grants from the CUD.
NO TREATMENT WILL BE GIVEN TO FILES THAT :
  • Are incomplete
  • Are sent by fax or e-mail
  • Arrive at CUD beyond the set deadline (indicated on this site)
  • Are not provided on the adequate file (downloadable on this site), and in the language in which the programme is provided
  • Do not correspond to a programme presented in this site
  • Refer to more than one programme
  • Are not accompanied by the parts to join obligatorily (copy certified of the diploma,...). Photocopies or documents scanned of the certified copies are NOT accepted
  • Do not respect one the criteria of conformity clearly mentioned in the site (certified diploma, age, professional experience,...)
Apply for a grant from the CUD is absolutely FREE. Any application containing an envelope with money will be automatically rejected.
During the selection process between admissible files, CIUF will take account of the following criteria:

The academic curriculum
For courses, priority will be granted to candidates who have not yet obtained a postgraduate degree, save for exceptional circumstances specified in the application file.


The benefit of previous scholarships

Priority will be granted to candidates who have not yet benefited from a scholarship in Belgium.


Professional experience

CIUF grants scholarships as a matter of priority to candidates who, upon termination of their University studies, have had the opportunity of practising a profession in relation to problems of development. The social impact of professional experience constitutes an element of assessment.


Membership of a partner institution
Candidates who are appointed by an institution with which CIUF has concluded a partnership, either within the framework of institutional co-operation or within the framework of an own-initiative programme, will be granted priority in case of equality on the other selection criteria.


The commitment of the candidate to development activities

Special attention will be given to files of candidates who, beyond their academic qualities, have shown commitment to development issues. This commitment may materialise in having worked with the most disadvantaged social categories, and in having tried to define with them the efficient means to defend and promote their interests.


Nationality

CIUF aims at diversifying the geographic origin of the scholars. It sees to it that in the overall of the international courses and training programmes organised in the framework of its North-Actions programme, candidates origina-ting in sub-saharian Africa represent 50% of the total number of scholars.


Equality of sexes

CIUF grants special attention to the participation of women in the international courses and training programmes organised within the framework of the North-Actions programme.


Perspectives of future reinstatement

Major guarantees are required concerning the return of the candidate to his country of origin or to another developing country, as well as his reinstatement in a profession that enables him to put the training acquired in Belgium at the service of development (e.g. labour contract, formal promise of appointment) and to produce a multiplier effect to the benefit of his country of origin.

  • This file can be taken from our web-site.

  • It will be carefully completed and returned, ONLY by POST MAIL or EXPRESS MAIL, to CUD, that must be in their possession at the latest by FEBRUARY, 13, 2013* (we do not hold account of the postmark, we take into account only the files arrived in our buildings for the date limits at the latest)
  • No acknowledgement of receipt will be provided
  • Only applications presented on the appropriate file, and in the language of the programme, will be submitted to the selection committee.

  • All elements of the file must be transmitted simultaneously. No complementary file will be admitted at a later stage.

  • The candidates selected and of reserve will receive an e-mail at the end of the selections (end of May 2013). The not selected candidates will receive an e-mail in the current of june 2013.

  • No document transmitted to CUD will be returned to the candidates.

  • No treatment will be given to files that do not respect one of the rules of selection clearly mentioned on the web site (certified diploma, age, professional experience,...).
