Hedley Bull Scholarship at Australian National University, Australia

The Graduate Studies in International Affairs program offers up to four Hedley Bull Scholarships each year for full-time study in the Master of Arts (International Relations) commencing in semester one. Applicants must meet the admission requirements of the Master of Arts (International Relations).

When applying for the MA (International Relations), eligible applicants for the Hedley Bull Scholarship should include a covering letter indicating their interest in being considered for the scholarship and making the case for being granted one. The covering letter together with the application for the MA (International Relations) (including transcripts and three academic references) will be considered as the full application for the scholarship. There is no need to provide a separate application. The scholarship provides a full-fee waiver for three full-time sessions (semesters). This amounts to 48 units of graduate coursework and a 24-unit thesis session. 

All domestic applications for the graduate coursework qualifications must be made through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC). The UAC code for the qualifications are:

Beasiswa Double Degrees Indonesia-Jepang di Unpad

Program Studi Magister Ilmu Lingkungan Universitas Padjajaran (PSMIL Unpad) Bandung kembali membuka peluang beasiswa bagi lulusan sarjana yang berniat melanjutkan studi di bidang ilmu lingkungan.

Jalur Beasiswa Unggulan dari Kemdikbud ini menawarkan bantuan studi jenjang S2 Ilmu Lingkungan yang konsentrasinya pada bidang 'Pembangunan dan Konservasi Lingkungan Perdesaan'.

Penerima beasiswa hanya akan disediakan biaya pendidikan hingga lulus kuliah. Adapun fasilitas biaya hidup selama studi tidak termasuk di dalamnya.

DAAD Short-Term Research Grants for Indonesian, Germany

DAAD Scholarships for Doctoral Programs and Post-docs Short-term Research in Germany for Academics and Scientists from Indonesian Universities and Research Institutes, Germany 2013-2014

These grants and scholarships aim to provide foreign academics and scientists working in higher education or at research institutes with an opportunity to carry out a research project at a state-recognized higher education institution or non-university research institute in Germany.

Duration: Depending on the applicant’s work schedule, the research stay will last between one and three months. The stay may begin in May/June 2013 at the earliest.

Eligibility:

• Applications for DAAD research stays are open to excellently-qualified academics and scientists who should generally hold a doctorate/PhD. All applicants must be working in higher education or at a research institute in Indonesia
• Besides their previous academic achievements (for example, recent publications), the most important selection criterion is a convincing and well-planned research project to be completed during the stay in Germany. This must have been coordinated and agreed with a research collaboration partner at the chosen host institute in Germany. Written confirmation of the research cooperation, including the reference to the applicant’s project, must be included with the application papers
• The application must provide proof of a workplace being provided at the host institute
• DAAD support for a research stay can only be awarded once in any three-year period
• Former fellows of the Alexander von Humboldt-Foundation are requested to contact the Humboldt-Foundation first.

 All applications must be submitted to DAAD Jakarta Office in duplicate. The original will be forwarded to the DAAD Head Office in Bonn. The final decision is taken by the DAAD. Applications cannot be sent directly to DAAD head office in Bonn. The DAAD will not consider incomplete applications.

Leiden University Excellence Scholarship programme (LExS), Netherlands

For excellent Non-EU/EEA students enrolling in a Leiden University master's degree programme and for excellent students from all nationalities enrolling in a Master of Law Advanced Programme or MSc in International Relations and Diplomacy.

For whom?

1. Non-EU/EEA students enrolling in a Leiden University master's degree programme starting
   September 2012 or February 2013 ( All MA, MSc and LL.M programmes as mentioned on the website Master's programmes in Leiden,  a number of programs have a start date in September only).
2. All nationalities enrolling in the following programmes starting September 2012 or February 2013 (programs listed below have a September start date only, with the exception of Adv. Studies in Air & Space Law):

3. Scholarships will not be awarded to applicants who have already obtained a Leiden University master’s degree
4. Students who are granted a Leiden Excellence Scholarship must comply with and confirm in writing their agreement with the terms and conditions (pdf) attached to the scholarship prior to the granting of the scholarship.

Scholarship Amount:

The Leiden University Excellence Scholarship programme has 5 awards: 

Platinum	Covers the tuition fee minus the home fee* and an allowance of €10,000 for living costs
Gold	Covers the tuition fee minus the home fee*
Silver	Covers 75% of the tuition fee
Bronze	Covers 50% of the tuition fee
Ivory	Covers 25 % of the tuition fee

The number and type of award of the scholarship depends on the budget available for each Faculty department. The type of award has no reflection on the students' academic level of excellence.

* The tuition fee will be reduced to the amount of the home fee. Students who have been awarded a Platinum or Gold award still have to pay the home fee themselves.

Beasiswa S-2 di University of Twente, Belanda

University of Twente di Belanda membuka kesempatan untuk para lulusan sarjana dari luar Eropa untuk melanjutkan studi pascasarjana melalui program University Twente Scholarships (UTS). Batas waktu aplikasi beasiswa berbagai bidang studi ini dibuka hingga 15 Desember 2012.

Bidang studi yang ditawarkan meliputi matematika terapan, fisika terapan, rekayasa biomedis, administrasi bisnis, teknologi informasi bisnis, teknik kimia, manajemen dan teknik sipil, ilmu komunikasi, ilmu komputer, teknik dan manajemen kostruksi, ilmu dan teknologi pendidikan, teknik elektro, embedded system, kajian Eropa, ilmu kesehatan, interaksi media dan manusia, teknik desain industri, manajemen dan teknik industri, manajeman lingkungan dan energi, teknik mesin, teknologi nano, filsafat ilmu pengetahuan, teknologi dan masyarakat, administrasi publik, ilmu kependidikan dan komunikasi. teknologi energi yang dapat diperbarui, sistem dan kontrol, serta telematika.

Penyelengara memberikan dua opsi jumlah beasiswa untuk masa belajar selama 

satu tahun dan dua tahun. Pelamar hanya bisa memilih salah satu dari opsi ini. Jumlah yang disebutkan diberikan per tahun studi, yaitu 22.500 euro untuk dua tahun, 20.000 euro untuk satu tahun, 12.500 euro untuk dua tahun dan 10.000 euro untuk satu tahun.

Pengecualian opsi di atas untuk program dua tahun bidang studi filsafat ilmu pengetahuan, teknologi dan masyarakat dan bidang studi non-teknik hanya memiliki opsi, yaitu beasiswa besar 20.000 euro dan beasiswa kecil 10.000 euro.

Untuk mengikuti program beasiswa ini, pelamar harus sudah diterima atau sementara diterima di salah satu program pascasarjana bidang syudi yang dituju sebelum tanggal 1 Desember (gelombang 1) dan 15 Maret (gelombang 2).

Pelamar juga harus lulus dengan indeks prestasi kumulatif yang sangat baik dan sudah memperoleh visa untuk tinggal di Belanda. Syarat kemampuan bahasa Inggris IELTS 6,5 atau TOEFL iBT dari 90 dan tambahan nilai 6,0 untuk IELTS atau tambahan nilai 20 untuk TOEFL iBT untuk kemampuan berbicara dalam bahasa Inggris.

Undergraduate and Postgraduate Scholarships at University of Wales, UK

International Scholarships for 2012/13 entry:

Details of our pre-sessional English Language scholarships for September 2012  can be found here. Please note these are available only to International students.

A number of other Scholarships are available from the University of Wales, Newport.  Students applying for September 2012 or January 2013 entry are eligible to apply for these awards.

Students wishing to apply for these scholarships need to download and complete the Scholarship Application Form. A limited number of Scholarships are available and will be awarded to students on the basis of outstanding achievement.  Categories you may wish to consider applying under are:

• Academic
• Social or Cultural: including community projects or voluntary work
• Outstanding Artistic Achievement

The application form requires you to undertake a 500-700 word piece of work supporting your application.  Please note that applications must be fully completed and your supporting statement must be within the word limit.

Scholarships are available for both undergraduate and postgraduate applicants and awards are made for the academic year 2012/2013 (or for the duration of your course).  Scholarships of £1,000 per year will be awarded and the scholarship award will be deducted from your annual tuition fee.  A maximum of 10 undergraduate and 5 postgraduate scholarship awards will be made for each intake (September 2012 and January 2013).

Scholarships will be awarded by the Scholarship Committee based upon merit through consideration of a completed Scholarship Application Form.  These awards will be made at the beginning of the each semester and the decision by the Scholarship Committee is final.

Applicants must hold a Visa Letter/CAS for a taught undergraduate or postgraduate course at the University and have firmly accepted their offer before submitting an application.

Serba-Serbi Beasiswa

Bagi mereka yang berminat menempuh studi di luar negeri, beasiswa adalah salah satu cara untuk mendukung cita-cita tersebut. Berbagai negara juga telah banyak menyediakan beasiswa untuk para pelajar Indonesia. Seleksi yang ketat membuat tidak semua pelamar diterima. Selain itu, informasi yang tidak lengkap juga terkadang menggagalkan kita mendapatkan beasiswa yang kita incar.

Perburuan beasiswa sejatinya dimulai sejak pencarian informasi tentang lowongan beasiswa itu sendiri. Nah, sebagai bekal dalam berburu beasiswa, ada baiknya kita mengenal berbagai hal tentang beasiswa, terutama beasiswa luar negeri.

Harus pintar?

Salah seorang anggota mailing list (milis) beasiswa, Ronald, bercerita, banyak orang menyangka, agar mendapatkan beasiswa kita harus memiliki nilai indeks prestasi kumulatif (IPK) tinggi. "Beberapa beasiswa memang mensyaratkan prestasi akademik. Tetapi kenyataannya, banyak juga mahasiswa dengan nilai IPK rata-rata mendapatkan beasiswa," kata Ronald.

IPK tidak menjadi penentu utama karena seleksi beasiswa juga biasanya mensyaratkan wawancara. Ronald mengimbuh, di antara beasiswa yang mensyaratkan prestasi akademik adalah HSP Huygens. Pendaftar beasiswa dari Belanda ini haruslah berada dalam lima persen lulusan terbaik di angkatannya. Tetapi, kata Ronald, tidak ada salahnya mencoba. "Saya pernah bertemu dua mahasiswa yang mendapat HSP Huygens tapi IPK-nya dua koma sekian sekian," imbuhnya.

Batas umur

Umumnya, lembaga pemberi beasiswa memasang angka 35 tahun sebagai batas maksimal dalam seleksi pendaftaran beasiswa magister (S-2). Di antara program beasiswa yang mensyaratkan umur maksimal 35 tahun adalah STUNED, beasiswa Kemenkominfo, dan beasiswa Monbukagakusho.

Pengalaman kerja
Beberapa beasiswa mensyaratkan pengalaman kerja minimal dua tahun. Tetapi, syarat ini bukanlah harga mati.

Ronald mengilustrasikan, lowongan beasiswa di Kemenkominfo memberi syarat. "Diutamakan memiliki pengalaman kerja minimal dua tahun," dia mengimbuhkan. Diutamakan, kata Ronald, bukan berarti harus. "Jadi, bisa saja ada yang pengalaman kerjanya kurang dari dua tahun diterima," ujar Ronald.

Selain masa bakti, pengalaman kerja di bidang yang relevan dengan yang dilamar juga bisa menguntungkan kita seperti beasiswa Erasmus Mundus (International Master in Industrial Management). Ronald menyebut, pengalaman kerja tidak selalu menjadi harga mati. "Tetapi, pengalaman tersebut akan membantu kita memahami materi kuliah," imbuhnya.

Waktu lulus

Beberapa beasiswa ada yang memasang persyaratan bahwa si pendaftar adalah mahasiswa tingkat akhir. Atau, jika sudah lulus, maka tahun kelulusan pendaftar tersebut tidaklah lebih dari satu tahun. Jadi, kebalikan dari beasiswa yang mensyaratkan pengalaman kerja, beasiswa jenis ini benar-benar mencari para fresh graduates.

Wawancara

Menurut Ronald, bisa dipastikan, akan selalu ada sesi wawancara dalam proses seleksi beasiswa. Jenisnya beragam, misalnya wawancara psikologi dan panel, serta dengan bahasa pengantar berbeda juga, bisa bahasa Indonesia, Inggris, atau bahasa ibu negara tujuan.

Dia berujar, pertanyaan yang diajukan dalam sesi wawancara ini biasanya seputar motivasi kuliah di luar negeri, topik riset yang akan diambil, hingga bayangan tentang akan jadi apa kita dalam 10 tahun mendatang.

"Meskipun kadang-kadang wawancara ngelantur ke mau menikah di usia berapa, kalau bayi kamu lahir mau diapain (pertanyaan ke salah satu peserta yang lagi hamil gede, langsung sama peserta tsb dijawab: ya dirawat Pak), siapa perdana menteri Jepang?" kata Ronald.

Meski begitu, ujar Ronald, ada juga beasiswa yang tidak mencantumkan wawancara sebagai bagian dari seleksi. Hal yang menentukan diterima atau tidaknya pelamar adalah pada kelengkapan berkas aplikasi yang dikirimkan.

"Sepanjang pengalaman saya, beasiswa Erasmus Mundusnya Uni Eropa dan Beasiswa HSP Huygensnya Belanda hanya menyeleksi dokumen," imbuhnya.

Dapat Beasiswa, Harus Bayar Zakat?

Pertanyaan:

Apakah kita wajib mengeluarkan zakat mal jika kita mendapatkan beasiswa sekolah yang besarnya melebihi 85g emas pertahunnya?

Jawaban:

Ada dua pendapat ulama dalam hal zakat beasiswa. Pertama, ada ulama yang menjelaskan bahwa beasiswa tidak termasuk dalam obyek zakat dan tidak wajib zakat. Pasalnya, mereka yang mendapatkan beasiswa studi adalah sebagai mustahik dan umumnya beasiswa ada yang bersumber dari dana zakat dan ada juga dari sumber lain. Oleh karena itu pendapat ulama pertama ini menegaskan zakat beasiswa tidak ada sebab Anda dikelompokkan dalam kategori mustahik (orang berhak mendapatkan zakat) yaitu ke dalam golongan fi sabilillah.

Selain itu, beasiswa yang diterima merupakan tamlik muqayyad (pemberian bersyarat). Artinya, dana tersebut merupakan transaksi antara pemberi dana dan mahasiswa untuk menyelesaikan studinya. Kalau begitu, jangankan untuk zakat, untuk kepentingan mahasiswa sendiri pun bila tidak ada hubungannya dengan studi dana tersebut tidak boleh digunakan.

Pendapat kedua, ada ulama yang mewajibkan zakat atas seluruh harta termasuk tabungan dan beasiswa jika melebihi nishab zakat maka wajib berzakat 2,5 persen. Menurut ulama ini, beasiswa bisa dihukumi sebagai pemberian/hadiah dan bisa dihukumi sebagai penghasilan jika itu rutin diterima seperti zakat profesi.

Prof Dr. Quraish Shihab menjelaskan, jika beasiswa yang Saudari terima melebihi kebutuhan hidup, dan kelebihan itu senilai sekitar 85 gram emas, dan dimiliki selama setahun penuh, barulah Saudari wajib membayar zakat sebesar 2,5 persen. Kelompok ini menegaskan, pembayaran zakat ditunaikan setahun sekali, tapi kalau sekiranya setahun terlalu memberatkan bisa diangsur perbulan sekali.

Kasus ini senada dengan ungkapan Abu Ubaid dalam Kitab al-Amwal. Zakat wajib dikeluarkan atas seluruh harta termasuk harta hasil pemberian/hadiah (beasiswa). Sebagaimana dipraktikkan oleh sahabat Ibnu Mas'ud dan Ibnu Abbas. Abu Ubaid meriwayatkan dari Hubairah bin Yaryam bahwasanya Abdullah bin Mas'ud memberikan kami keranjang-keranjang kecil kemudian menarik zakatnya. Demikian juga Abu Ubaid meriwayatkan juga Ibnu Abbas tentang seorang laki-laki yang memperoleh penghasilan "Ia mengeluarkan zakatnya pada hari ia memperolehnya".

Menurut hemat kami dari kedua pendapat ulama tersebut, kami lebih cendrung kepada pendapat kedua yang menjelaskan beasiswa wajib dikeluarkan zakatnya setahun sekali (atau bisa juga perbulan sekali takut memberatkan kalau setahun sekali) jika harta tersebut sudah memenuhi kebutuhan hidup dan cukup nishab.

Jadi kalau uang beasiswa yang diperoleh dari beasiswa itu setelah ditabung selama satu tahun dan sisa dari uang yang dimiliki mencapai nisab maka Saudari terkena zakat. Namun jika beasiswa tersebut hanya mencukupi kebutuhan bulanan saja  dan tidak terdapat sisa di dalamnya, kemudian setelah satu tahun ternyata uang sisa tersebut tidak mencapai nisab, maka Saudari tidak terkena kewajiban zakat.

7 "Resep" Jitu untuk Mahasiswa Baru

Bulan-bulan ini hingga satu-dua bulan ke depan, sejumlah universitas akan memulai tahun pendidikan baru bagi para mahasiswanya. Saat memasuki awal perkuliahan, para mahasiswa baru kerap kaget karena asing dengan lingkungan serta metode pembelajaran yang jauh berbeda dibandingkan dengan pola pembelajaran di sekolah. Hal lainnya adalah ketika mereka berhasil lolos seleksi di universitas favorit, para mahasiswa baru ini cenderung menilai bahwa perjuangannya telah selesai. Akhirnya, mereka terlena dan melupakan misi sesungguhnya, yaitu memperjelas visi utama untuk apa ia berkuliah.

Nah, salah satu cara yang dipilih oleh Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) untuk meningkatkan kesadaran mahasiswa akan esensi kuliah, digelar pelatihan The 7 Habits for New College Students (tujuh kebiasaan untuk mahasiswa baru) yang diberikan pada saat masa orientasi kepada seluruh mahasiswa baru ITB angkatan 2011, pekan lalu. Pelatihan ini sengaja diberikan sebagai upaya mengenalkan tujuh kebiasaan (seven habits) efektif yang perlu diperhatikan dan menjadikannya sebagai bekal agar para mahasiswa baru siap menghadapi masa perkuliahannya.

Sesuai dengan namanya, program pelatihan ini memiliki tujuh kebiasaan yang dibagi ke dalam tiga tujuan. Jadilah proaktif, memulai dengan tujuan akhir dan dahulukan yang utama adalah poin pertama sampai ketiga yang dimaksudkan untuk menciptakan kemandirian dalam diri setiap mahasiswa baru.

1. "jadilah proaktif".
Para mahasiswa diajarkan untuk bertanggung jawab atas masa depan mereka. Inilah hal mendasar yang seringkali sulit untuk dikerjakan. Dengan kebiasaan ini, kedepannya mahasiswa baru tidak akan mengeluh dan tidak akan mudah menyerah ketika menghadapi dinamika perkuliahan yang sesungguhnya. Dampak dari kebiasaan yang pertama ini adalah menciptakan inisiatif, karena keadaan tidak bisa dipilih, maka mahasiswa dituntut untuk pandai menentukan keputusan.

2. "memulai dengan tujuan akhir"
Poin ini mengajak mahasiswa untuk membuat dan memperjelas visi dan tujuan mereka saat berkuliah.

3. "dahulukan yang utama"
Para mahasiswa diajarkan cara untuk mengatur waktu dan diajak untuk menentukan prioritas.

Penanggung jawab program The 7 Habits for New College Students sekaligus Ketua Yayasan Dunamis Mitra Pertiwi, Andiral Purnomo mengatakan, poin pertama sampai dengan ketiga adalah poin yang dapat menciptakan kemandirian dalam diri setiap mahasiswa baru.

Menurutnya, setelah dapat mandiri, maka kemudian akan terbentuk visi yang kuat ketika para mahasiswa baru tersebut memulai masa kuliahnya.

"Kebiasaan ini adalah 3 in 1. Jika sudah dijalankan, maka tidak akan ada hal yang dapat menghentikan mereka untuk terus kuliah," kata Andiral, tengah pekan lalu, di ITB, Bandung, Jawa Barat.

4. "berpikir menang-menang"
Para mahasiswa baru diajarkan untuk selalu “berpikir menang-menang” ketika berhubungan dengan orang lain. Untuk dapat berpikir menang-menang, mahasiswa diajak untuk mendengarkan dan memahami orang lain terlebih dahulu baru kemudian meminta untuk dipahami.

5. "berusaha mengerti terlebih dahulu baru dimengerti”
Kebiasaan ini berkaitan dengan kebiasaan keempat, mahasiswa diajak untuk memahami orang lain, baru meminta orang lain untuk memahami dirinya.

6. "sinergi"
Para mahasiswa baru diajak untuk meningkatkan dan menumbuhkan kerjasama. Selain itu, para mahasiswa juga dibekali bagaimana kewajiban mereka untuk menghargai perbedaan dengan menyatukan visi. Andiral mengatakan, jangan ada pihak yang alergi dengan perbedaan.

"Tujuan dari kebiasaan ke empat sampai dengan ke enam adalah agar orang lain mau mengerti tentang apa yang akan kita sampaikan. Tapi untuk itu kita harus mengerti dan menampung aspirasi orang lain terlebih dahulu. Tanpa memahami, kita akan makin sulit dipahami. Itulah rahasia kepemimpinan, menyampaikan pendapat dengan cara yang paling pas," jelas Andiral.

7. "sadar akan pentingnya pengembangan diri"

Para mahasiswa baru diajak untuk sadar akan pentingnya pengembangan diri, menyeimbangkan kehidupan pribadi dengan kuliah mereka. Kebiasaan ini sangat penting dan terkait dengan empat dimensi kehidupan yang harus terus diasah, yaitu, kecakapan intelektual, kecakapan fisik, sosial emosional dan kecakapan spiritual yang harus terus dipelihara secara berkesinambungan.

Dengan mengikuti pelatihan ini, setiap mahasiswa baru nantinya akan siap menghadapi dunia sebagai mahasiswa dengan segala aktivitas dan suka dukanya yang diimbangi dengan pembentukan karakter mereka sebagai calon pemimpin yang cerdas (intellectual leader).

"Pelatihan ini guna membekali mahasiswa baru dengan tujuh kebiasaan yang efektif, dan untuk mewujudkan mahasiswa yang memiliki integritas, prestasi dan kemitraan. Sehingga selama masa perkuliahan, mereka bisa lebih tegar, dan jatuh bangunnya tidak terlalu berat," kata Andiral.

Tips Ini Khusus untuk Mahasiswa Baru!

Masuk dunia studi baru, biasanya akan memberikan semangat dan energi baru. Menyandang perubahan status dari siswa menjadi mahasiswa, pasti memberikan kebanggaan tersendiri. Sebelum berjibaku di bangku perkuliahan, ada baiknya Anda mempersiapkan diri dengan matang. Sebab, sukses di bidang akademik tidak hanya membutuhkan kecerdasan otak, pengaturan waktu dengan baik juga akan menentukan.

Memasuki dunia kampus, Anda akan mengetahui jadwal perkuliahan dilakukan secara mandiri. Nah, mulai sekarang persiapkan jadwal segala kegiatan yang akan Anda lakukan. Taati dan disiplinlah. Misalnya:

• Mengatur waktu untuk pergi ke perpustakaan;
• Menulis laporan praktikum atau lab;
• Jadwal bertemu dosen;
• serta berbagai kegiatan akademik lainnya.

Perlu diketahui atmosfer belajar yang akan Anda hadapi berbeda dengan ketika Anda belajar di SMA yang bisa menghabiskan waktu belasan jam. Kali ini, bersiaplah untuk menyisihkan waktu ekstra karena akan ada berbagai tugas perkuliahan yang menanti.

Tugas-tugas ini dipastikan akan menguras dan menyita waktu lebih banyak. Menyisihkan waktu untuk mengerjakan berbagai tugas itu pun tidak akan menjamin kesuksesan. Anda juga harus mengerti dan memahami penjelasan yang diberikan dosen. Dosen berharap, mahasiswa dapat mengerti penjelasan yang diberikan dengan cara apa pun.

Untuk itu, gunakanlah waktu sehari-hari Anda dengan optimal:  

• Buatlah catatan kelas, pelajari dengan matang;
• Lakukan tes-tes untuk mengetahui seberapa dalam Anda memahami materi;
• Anda juga dianjurkan untuk memiliki kelompok belajar, serta mangadakan pertemuan rutin dengan dosen untuk mengetahui sejauh mana perkembangan belajar Anda.

Dengan berinvestasi waktu, Anda dapat menyimpan nilai dan mengurangi stres pada saat ujian. Selain belajar, Anda juga bisa menyediakan waktu untuk hang out bersama teman-teman. Tetapi, rencanakanlah dulu waktu untuk bersenang-senang dengan memastikan jadwal kelas perkuliahan.

Perbanyak  teman dan aktif berorganisasi akan memudahkan Anda membiasakan diri di lingkungan yang baru Anda datangi. Dengan banyak berteman, Anda akan mudah mencari lawan diskusi ketika menemui kesulitan dalam belajar.

Fujitsu Scholarship Program in Global Leaders for Innovation and Knowledge, 2012

Fujitsu Limited established the Fujitsu Scholarship Program in 1985 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of its founding. The aim was to provide the opportunity for people from the Asia-Pacific region to contribute to the region through studying different values, cultures, and global business. This has been a Fujitsu’s key initiative for deepening the relationships between the countries and citizens of the Asia-Pacific region. This scholarship has since enabled 440 professionals from 18 countries to study cross-cultural management at JAIMS, the Japan-America Institute of Management Science, in Hawaii, U.S.A.
The Fujitsu Scholarship provides full financial assistance for postgraduate education and cross-cultural management training in the Global Leaders for Innovation and Knowledge program by Fujitsu-JAIMS Foundation. The program has three and a half months curriculum. The participants will sharpen their global management knowledge and skills, and build the confidence necessary for success in global business situations. Selected Fujitsu Scholar will attend the Global Leaders for Innovation and Knowledge program from April 21, 2013 to August 2, 2013.

Qualifications 

To apply for the Fujitsu Scholarship, you must meet the qualifications for both Fujitsu Scholarship and Global Leaders for Innovation and Knowledge program as follows.

1. Education

A bachelor's degree or a degree equivalent to a four-year standard baccalaureate degree in any discipline from a regionally or nationally accredited institution

2. Experience

A minimum of three years of relevant full-time work experience (five years preferred) at the time of application

3. Language

A minimum TOEFL score of 577/233/90 (paper/computer/Internet), TOEIC score of 750, or IELTS overall band test result of 6.5 or higher from tests taken between November 2007 and October 2012.
The following applicants are exempt from submitting an English proficiency test score:

• Applicants whose native language is English and who are from either the United States, Australia, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Canada, or Singapore.
• Applicants who hold a bachelor’s or advanced degree within the last five years from an accredited or recognized college or university in the United States, Australia, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Canada, or Singapore. Contact us for the proof of document required.

4. Country

Applicants must be a resident of the state of Hawaii, U.S.A., or a citizen of one of the following countries: Australia, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, or Vietnam.

2013 Visiting Fellowship Scheme, University of Nottingham, UK

The University of Nottingham’s International Office is pleased to announce the launch of the 2013 Visiting Fellowship Scheme, which will allow 20 researchers from seven partner countries the opportunity to complete a three month period of research in Nottingham.

The Scheme follows on from the successful University of Nottingham ‘Indian Visiting Fellowships Scheme’ which ran in 2010 and 2011 and the ‘Brazil Visiting Fellowship Scheme’ which ran in 2012.

The aims of the Scheme are to:

• Promote research collaboration between leading groups in Nottingham and the seven partner countries through projects undertaken initially at Nottingham
• Support capacity development with universities in the partner countries
• Enable Visiting Fellows to obtain insight into the organisation and conduct of research, training and administration at Nottingham

Criteria for Eligibility

• Applicants must have completed the equivalent of an Australian Bachelor degree qualification with outstanding results based on the Australian grading system, as deemed by the University of Sydney.
• Students who have already commenced postgraduate studies, or students transferring with credit exemptions and/or advanced standing, are not eligible.

Application Procedure

• No separate application for a Sydney Achievers International Scholarship is necessary.
• An Application for Admission to the University of Sydney in 2013 will constitute an application for a Scholarship.
• All applications meeting the selection and eligibility criteria resulting in unconditional Offers of Admission will be automatically considered.
• The deadline for receipt of applications and complete supporting documentation (academic and English language proficiency results) is 15 January 2013 for Semester 1, 2013, and 30 June 2013 for Semester 2, 2013.
• Successful candidates will receive an Offer of a Scholarship with the Offer of Admission.
• Applications received after these deadlines will not be considered.
• Candidates applying through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) will be considered in January 2013.

Due to the limited number of Scholarships available, applicants are not guaranteed a Scholarship (even if they meet the selection and eligibility criteria) especially if offers made to early applicants have all been accepted. Candidates are, therefore, strongly encouraged to apply early for admission in order to maximise their chances of being considered for a Scholarship.

Selection Criteria

• Selection will be based strictly on academic merit as per the University’s admission requirements.
• Selection will be based on actual results (academic and English language proficiency). Predicted/forecast results will not be considered.
• Only applicants with firm, unconditional offers of admission will be considered.
• Selection will be made by the International Student Office, whose decision will be final. No appeals will be entertained.

Conditions

• Scholarship recipients will need to maintain satisfactory academic progress, which, for the purposes of retaining the Scholarship, is defined as maintaining a credit average (at least 65%) or more each year.  Failure to do so may result in the Scholarship being terminated.
• Successful candidates:
  • must not be in receipt of any other tuition scholarship;
  • must commence study in 2013 – commencement may not be deferred to a later year;
  • will be required to pay for their own airfares to Sydney, living expenses, study materials, text books, any ancillary fees (if applicable) and Overseas Student Health Cover each year;
  • are also responsible for paying the balance of the tuition fees each year;
  • are required to enrol as full-time international students and must maintain their international student status on a full-time basis throughout their enrolment at the University of Sydney; and
